Lovely small hotel near the waterfront

    rating14 Oct 2019

Lovely small hotel with friendly helpful staff. The location is great a short walk ( 10 minutes) from the train station and near the waterfront ( one row back). There is a lift for luggage ( not people) to help get heavy cases upto the room. The beds are comfortable and there were original wooden shutters with a lovely window seat.Breakfast in the morning was excellent. It was mainly a continental breakfast but with a good range of items. There was also the option of freshly cooked scrambled eggs which were delicious.

    VERY poor accomadation

    rating05 Nov 2017

We checked in and was given the room in the loft . No lifts. It was SO tiny , no room even for 1 suitcase ,The only place to put your cloths was on a small hanger rail with 4 coat hangers, no draws at all . The bed was up on a mezzanine level but not a standard size . No room to lay down without curling up. The whole room was the smallest we have ever seen. We checked out within a couple of hours and found accommodation that was a similar price and a PROPER room . The only good thing about it was the location .

    Great view, great staff.

We only stayed 2 nights, but if we return to Porto we will stay longer and stay here. The staff was super friendly and helpful, even coming to find us when we got lost trying to find the hotel. We had room 5 which is the only room with an upper bunk bed, which was nevertheless very comfortable. There is a lift for luggage, but only steps for humans. There can't possibly be a better view in all of Porto.

A Very Pleasant Stay in a Fantastic Location

    rating08 Oct 2017

Stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our 2 week trip. The location is second to none. Right beside the Ribeira, with dozens of restaurants on your door step. A few very good ones literally next door. Set in a quaint narrow old terraced building on a cobbled old town road, the walk there feels historic and full of character, with the guest house keeping some of the character but modernised to a high standard. Staff were all very friendly, especially the girl serving the breakfast each morning, can't remember the name sorry. We had a twin room on the first floor looking over the entrance. Although the road is full of restaurants and people, we couldn't hear a thing, which was great. Room was a good size for us. A great place to stay for a few nights when seeing what Porto has too offer.

    Horrible, stinking place

    rating30 Aug 2017

We left this guesthouse yesterday morning and I couldn't have been happier! The only positive aspect is the location, which is basically in the heart of the tourist area (if you like that). The room was super small with literally no place for a nightstand and a closet. We had to keep our stuff in the luggage which were in the way making the room even smaller. The bed was horrible! Cheap and old....I felt every spring inside of it (and didn't sleep for all our stay). The bathroom is minimal but ok. The whole place stinks like sewer, it must come from the basement...The breakfast is served in a small room with the least enthusiasm ever .They offer American coffee, milk and juices ( directly from their boxes). Every morning there's fresh bread and some fruit, some cheese and lunch meats. The girl asks you how you want your eggs and cooks them for you. They also have cereals, yogurt and a small cake.We paid 100€ a night and that was definitely too much for this place. They even asked us €15 extra for a "late check-in" at 10pm. I would definitely recommend you avoid Homey!
