Location

In a relaxing and calm location just 5 min by car from Chaves’ historical centre, this casino resort hotel offers a magnificent view of the city and landscape. Restaurants, bars, shops and the river are about a 20-minute walk away in the city centre. Approximately 150 km from Porto Airport, the hotel can be reached by taking the Chaves exit of the A24 motorway.

Facility

The hotel has 6 suites and 72 double rooms, which are located on 3 storeys and are reachable by lift. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities available at the hotel include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available.     A good hotel, but in need of better maintenance management

    The hotel is located about 4 km from the city of Chaves in a quiet setting. It offers a variety of amenities, including a heated indoor pool, an outdoor pool for adults and children, a gym, a sauna, a casino, and more...The hotel boasts well-designed architecture and also benefits from its prime location. The rooms are spacious and there is ample cupboard space for storing luggage, even for a week-long stay. Despite this positive first impression, I have observed and confirmed for the second time that this hotel urgently requires more careful maintenance regarding room service. The air conditioning/heating system is quite noisy when running, and the room furniture requires attention, such as: adjusting misaligned cupboard doors, wobbly chairs, door hinges torn from their fixings, a room entrance door that makes a noise when opened, indicating a lack of lubrication, and a room balcony with a wooden floor in need of painting. On one morning, 25 March 2026, there was no hot water in the rooms; it was only restored at 10:00 am. In conclusion, this establishment, given that it is classified as 4*, urgently needs a manager and an experienced and, above all, attentive maintenance team.As for the meals, the breakfast is of good quality. The dinner service is also of a good standard but slow to serve guests.The cleaning of the rooms is thorough and the bed linen and towels are of a good standard.     The best in Chaves, without a doubt

    It’s a bit of a hike from the town - although a short cab journey - but I wouldn’t stay anywhere else if I visited again.I had planned to stay three nights at Forte de Sao Francisco, but was so disappointed with it, I ended up switching here. And it was a gamble that paid off. Gorgeous, huge room - modern and clean, with a properly stocked minibar, spectacular bathroom, spacious balcony and beautiful views. I had a room at the back overlooking the mountains, which was wonderful in daylight but a bit lost in the dark. If you want an interesting nighttime vista, probably best to stay in a room at the front with views of the city in the distance – at least you’d get some twinkling lights.Two fabulous pools, good breakfast and just the loveliest staff. And set in expansive, picturesque grounds that could surely be turned into a golf course – much needed in these parts and bound to attract more guests.Overall, a great escape!

    Nice hotel, not so good resturant.

    Currently staying for 2 nights for my birthday weekend. Hotel is super modern. Some signs and wear and tear. Very clean and staff nice. House staff really friendly. Had dinner last evening in-house resturant. Wasn't blown away, quality let it down. Waitress didn't take the order correctly. But that was a good thing. For quality of food it was expensive at €76 for 2 people, and the steak was so tough. Very bad. Chaves itself is super pretty. Would stay at hotel again but not use in-house resturant for more than breakfast.

    Arrived here today as we had little charger left on our electric car. Staff were so helpful ash’s let us charge card to get to next super charger. We stopped for about 2 hours and ate dinner, again lovely friendly staff and great prices for food. Beautiful setting look out over hills.

    The hotel was excellent. The staff were professional and friendly. The room was great and the bed was very comfortable. The pool area is nice and plenty of sun beds. I used the spa and Sonia was a fantastic masseuse. The food in the hotel really tasty - dinner and breakfast. The only reason I didn’t give this a five rating was that the balcony floor in our room is dangerous. The spacing in the decking is too wide and the chair I was on fell though the gap - giving me a nasty bruise. The hotel staff responded very quickly to repair the floor but not interested in my well being
