    Unfriendly staff and not welcoming hotel

    I was very disappointed with this hotel. My partner booked a room for us as part of our anniversary celebration, but the staff were very unfriendly. On the first day of our arrival, we expected to use the pool; however, the receptionist informed us that it was closed for a holiday. Of course, during a holiday, guests expect hotel facilities to be available!The following day, it was raining heavily and my partner was feeling unwell. We asked at reception if it would be possible to check out two hours later, but our request was refused, even though the hotel had very few guests at the time. We needed to go to a pharmacy to buy medicine and asked to borrow an umbrella. Unfortunately, it broke almost immediately due to the strong wind. When we returned and apologized for the situation, we were asked to pay 25 euros for an old umbrella.Overall, the staff was neither friendly nor supportive. They rarely smiled, and the atmosphere felt tense. We felt as though we were asking for favors rather than being treated as guests hoping for a pleasant stay.

    bed bugs covering my bed. Hotel staff are not even the least bit helpful. Had to fight to get a new room for a wash. Manager nowhere to be found to speak to about this. Absolute disgrace. Hotel sheets don’t get changed when the rooms get cleaned

    I give 5-stars for this establishment for a number of reasons:1. Friendly and well mannered employees. All employees (front desk, restaurant, housekeepers, window cleaners, etc) have positive energy.2. Helpful employees in so many ways.3. Respectfully of my accommodation.4. Room is very clean and spacious with the most gorgeous views of the atlantic.5. Food in the restaurant is delicious, scrumptious and healthy. Seafood is fresh. Variety of selections on breakfast buffet.6. Host/hostess in the restaurant are all accommodating and respectful. 7. Customer service from the front desk, restaurant and housekeeping I will rate 5-star.8. The ambiance of the establishment has a good vibe and calming.9. Location of the hotel is perfect setting to relax and unwind.Based on my experience, Portuguese people, in general are fabulous and wonderful people. I would like to mention some names: Renata & Rodrigo (front desk), Elisa (restaurant) and Celmire (housekeeping). Thank you for being so accommodating, helpful and kind.Although I was not able to get all the names, I can say that everybody in Hotel Flor de Sal, I rate them all 5-star. I highly recommend this hotel/establishment.

    Flor de Sal met our needs and exceeded our expectations!

    Surprisingly great experience. The reception staff was wonderful and went beyond the call to help us when my husband got sick. True, the hotel is not located in a beautiful area, and didn't look like much from the outside - but WOW when you entered the expansive lobby you have a beautiful view of the sea. We are seniors, driving on our own, so were looking for a hotel that didn't involve negotiating the city streets, served breakfast and had free parking on site. It was raining hard when we arrived, so were pleased to know there is a restaurant there as well. It was a 4e Uber ride into the charming town center. Viana do Castelo is lovely. The hotel specializes in large groups (there were several well behaved young futbol teams there during our stay). The breakfast buffet was plentiful and diverse. We had a sea view room, with a balcony and two lounge chairs....if only the weather had been better!

    Hotel with excellent location with view to the ocean and offering service of very good quality. Recommend staying in rooms with sea view! Nice area around to take a walk. Many interesting places to visit in the are.
