    Great location, Great hosts

    rating12 Jun 2018

We were part of a walking tour group that stayed at the Quinta for 5 nights. Eating fabulous Portuguese food and sampling great Portuguese wines at a communal table while looking out onto a beautiful valley was a great Portuguese experience. The hosts (Jet & Ronald) were generous with their time and their experiences with wines. The room were large and well maintained.

Family owned winery with passion. They all are lovely. Vasco who showed us the place is simply friendly. Sandra, the winemaker and owner, is equally lovely. Cant say less really. Wish to be back here soon.

    Wine tasting

We had an outstanding visit to the Passadouro winery with a group of friends. Jorge is an amazing and brilliant host. He shared a lovely wine selection with us. The drive took us through windy roads and allowed us to see the beauty of the was amazing Douro River valley.

    Great Location, Great Food

    rating24 Oct 2015

We spent 6 nights here as part of a 5 day self guided package walking tour of the Douro Valley, but have some difficulty in giving an overall rating. The Quinta has a number of very positive features - a wonderful location, excellent and varied evening meals eaten at a communal table, the opportunity to try a wide range of local wines and ports and generally quiet. The assistant, Anna deserves a medal for her humour and hard work. On the other hand you cannot escape the fact that the accommodation, although comfortable, is quite basic and reliable hot water is a continuing issue. Cold showers can be quite invigorating! Our package included being met at Pinhao station and this did NOT happen - the excuse being that "I forgot" This did not leave a good taste. We also found that breakfast was served too late - 8.45 if you were lucky. As ours was an active holiday this was frustrating as often we were not away until 10.30 or later. The accommodation part of the Quinta is operated by a Dutch couple and we got the impression that they were having trouble coping with all the requirements of running the Quinta, a wine business and living at least half an hour away. At times the friendliness was a tiny bit forced. On the other hand Ronald went out of his way to arrange a "wine tramping" experience at another Quinta. A final minor negative was that it seemed at times that there a bit too much emphasis on the many Dutch guests. On balance however this was a wonderful place to stay and the positives outweigh the negatives and gets a 4 star award

    Rustic, But Fabulous Quinta

    rating18 Oct 2015

We stayed 3 nights with family style dinner each night. Meeting and sharing with other , mostly Dutch guests was fun. Rooms were basic but a wonderful location. Ronald and Jet were great hosts. The wine was excellent, especially the port. Unfortunately the Quinta is being closed at the end of 2015, but the winery will remain open.
