  The lady running Mirandesa Guesthouse got completely out of her mind and started to shout on the phone expressions like "you don't f**king know", "I don't f**king have to answer you now" and the like when I called regarding a reservation.What else can I say?

  The guesthouse is very clean.It is in the center off all in the town.Near the Douro, the metro, the train station .You can discover Porto easily.You have all the supermarket or pastry all around the house. My room.is like a room in an hotel. You have elevator.It is easy to live and discover Porto from this hotel.

  My boyfriend and I often choose cheaper places to stay when visiting cities. We aren’t fancy, we don’t spend much time in our hotel and we are always on a budget.Across Europe we’ve stayed in many cheap and simple places, but they are always clean, and that is all we really care about.Unfortunately Mirandesa Guesthouse is not clean. It is very shoddy looking. Everything looks like it needs repainting and sprucing up. Our bathroom (not en-suite but next door to our room) absolutely stunk on arrival, our shower head holder was broken so we had to hold it by hand to shower. The bathroom was dirty and run down.I understand it’s a simple, cheap place, but we’ve stayed in much cleaner, much nicer AND much cheaper so I don’t think it’s an excuse.My boyfriend liked the breakfast, I wish there were better fruit options.The only redeeming feature was the lovely lady on the reception desk who kindly circled places on a map for us and gave us a very detailed explanation of the city etc. That was very kind of her and very helpful. Thank you so much for that!Time for a refurb I think! And start with those bathrooms! They look like they haven’t been updated since the 1970s

  Basic Guesthouse, a Single Room with a Double Bed and mini balcony! Just 5 minute walk to Herosimo Metro! And 15 minute walk to Porto Campanha Main Train Station for Lisbon and Faro. I had a 05.40am train to take to Faro, so closeness to station was for me! The City Centre is close by (15 minute stroll) and good if you are a walker like me! The area of this Guesthouse is quiet and safe too! Plenty of hot water for the shared shower, although very small. Walls are a bit of the thin side in this building, so you can hear many people during the night getting ready for bed. I didn't have time for Breakfast and so I asked for a takeaway Breakfast - it was simple and mainly pastries. The staff make up for this Guesthouse and the Customer Service is excellent! I managed to do the main city hot spots in 6 hours by foot - including a walk up the Porto Tower. I would stay again for 1 night if needs be if I came back - price was fantastic! A few nice Coffee shops in the area selling Pastal de Nata (YUM!) and a Mini Supermarket just 1 minute walk around the corner!

  Really nice base for Porto, five minutes' walk from Campo de 24 Agosto metro station, with a direct link on the E line from the airport. Arrived around 2pm, was able to check in. Spotlessly clean and comfortable room, and had the 'shared' bathroom (good shower,with rainfall option) for my sole use. Good selection at breakfast (coffee could have been hotter though . . .) - ten minutes' or so walk to city centre, 15 to the Ribeira riverside district. For the price I paid for an Expedia bundle (£138 including daytime flights from Bristol), amazing value.Quickest way from Metro station: take the escalator on to Rua De Bonfim, look for the Santander Bank branch, take street to its right, over road junction, Mirandesa about 50 metres on left.
