  This Guesthouse is indeed charming. It is run by a lovely lady, nothing is too much trouble. The room was clean, quiet & comfortable. The optional breakfast was very nice & well worthwhile. Lots to recommend!

  The room was nice and a decent location. But the breakfast was not very good it came in a paper bag and you were allowed on coffee. The dining room was cold and the owner was not very friendly or helpful .We were in Portugal for two weeks and all the other places had a very nice breakfast and very friendly and helpful.

  Delightful. We had 11 people so we rented the entire B&B. Wonderful large areas for us to congregate All bedrooms were spacious with individual bathrooms. Lots of little touches that were appreciated such as slippers, shower caps, etc. Easy check-in. Very responsive to any issues. Great location. Made our visit to Porto special.

  The building and common rooms are lovely, but the room and particularly the bathroom are very small. It would be fine for one person especially if you need to be in this area. And there is a nice closet in the room. But it is a good 25 minute walk from the waterfront and there is no counters or shelves in the washroom. The room we had does not match the pictures online and the breakfast was very spare compared to the ample breakfasts we received in Lisbon and Coimbra. You also have to walk through a pretty depressed part of Porto to get to the tourist areas. It was very disappointing.

  My wife and I stayed at Charming House for 3 nights. FYI, this is not a hotel, but a quaint little BNB made out of an older building on a main street about a half hour downhill walk to the tourist district of Porto. The place has been completely re-done so that it keeps its charm, but has all the things needed for a modern stay.There is no 24 hour service. The staff are available in the morning to do the breakfast and are very friendly and attentive. They also stay and remake the rooms if needed. The management might be around,, but are only available in the afternoon or by cellphone. The main door leads directly to the main street. From all we could see it is a secure and safe area with double locks on doors. The rooms were very nice and ours was very quiet as it was on the back of the building. Soft bed, clean water/shower, tv,and all services are in good working order. There is no elevator. There is private parking across the street and it is secure also. The fee for parking is 10 Euro a day. We suggest that you arrive before 4PM because the street is a small but is a main artery in the area and is very crowded during rush hour, both morning and afternoon. The Porto drivers are not wreck less, but are very aggressive drivers.We suggest that you have your cell phone at the ready because when we arrived we could not get in the place and the outside door was locked and bell did not work. The manager arrived about 20 minutes later as we parked our car. He said we could have called him. So a word to the wise and keep your cell phone at the ready.
