Affording a unique location at the heart of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, this hotel offers guests breathtaking views out over the Cávado River and the Caniçada dam.

Facility

The hotel welcomes guests in a 2-storey building with a lift and 29 non-smoking rooms. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions.     Beautiful location, extremely good staff very knowledgeable and friendly, room very good exeptionally comfortable beds and pillows. Breakfast good, fixed rate evening meal menu not so good there are not many options if you are staying several nights. Menu only gets changed twice a year! Bar snack options also limited. More vegetarian/pescatarian options would be nice. Special mentions go to Manuel Barros - who was extremly helpful, gave us lots of local knowledge information and places to visit. Mariana in the restaurant will go far in her career an extremely pleasant young lady very helpful. Ana Marie Veiga on reception also a very pleasant lady and extremely helpful. Very enjoyable 5 days.     The Pousada of Caniçada is a charming hotel in a beautiful setting. Everything has a rustic feel: its architecture with stone walls and wooden beams, its garden... although I didn´t see any lift. The rooms are clean and of a regular size, with a nice bathroom and lovely traditional furniture. The beds are very comfortable and a good sleep is guaranteed in such a silent place. There's also a nice terrace with a beautiful view over the lake and the green mountains in the distance. The vibe is peaceful and relaxed. The hotel also has an outdoor pool, ideal for a dip or relaxing for a while, but the most appealing feature is the terrace next to the café, perfect for enjoying the views while having a drink outdoors weather permitting. If you're still undecided between half-board or full-board, keep in mind that, as this hotel is located in the countryside, going out for a meal involves driving on local roads. Besides, as in most establishments of the chain, the food is outstanding: delicious, abundant and well presented. Warm and friendly staff. Outside the hotel, all the Gerês area has beautiful landscapes and environment, ideal to explore and hike.     Spectacular scenery, wonderful staff

    Set in spectacular scenery, beautiful hotel with magnificent views, particularly from the bar, restaurant and outside dining area. The hotel staff were outstanding from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Special thanks to Leandro in the restaurant who was always on hand to help and to the receptionist who greeted us when we first arrived and showed us to our room. All the staff we encountered seemed to be proud of where they worked and couldn't do enough to ensure guests enjoyed their stay.The tea and coffee facilities in the room were much appreciated.     What a find this was. Beautiful hotel set in stunning scenery. The view from the dining terrace was amazing. Room extremely comfortable. Staff and service exceptional.
