    This is a fantastic place to stay. A beautiful setting, the views are stunning. Had room 207. Simple room, spotlessly clean. Ate in the restaurant. Great choice of very well cooked food.     Memorable Stay

    We recently stayed at Pousada Viana do Castelo and we TRULY had a fantastic stay. The hotel is very old fashion and it is the reason why it is so charming. Some will say it dated but in a way, it is hospitality at its best! The room (Panoramic Suite with Terrace) was very spacious and the terrace allowed us to enjoy the sun and a breathtaking view of the ocean.The employees are all very professional, discreet, friendly but never overwhelming. Housekeeping was discreet and very efficient and the room and bathroom were always spotless clean.Finally, the meals (as we booked half board) were just excellent. The choice at the breakfast buffet was high quality and very well presented! Dinners (A la carte) were equally good and there is true consistancy in both food quality, presentation and service (Special mention to Arsenio for his kindness and professionalism).Thank you to the reception team for their attention to detail!We look forward to seeing you very soon!     Lovely Hotel - But

    Very nice hotel in lovely Viana do Costello. The hotel is clean and comfortable and offers spectacular views. Easy walk to St. Luzia Sanctuary - which is close to funicular to travel to town (uber rides are easy too). At the hotel, front desk staff were friendly and professional. The only "but" was the the dining room. It's possible the cook was on their day off, but sadly so was the food - in fact, it was awful. The caldo verde soup was tasteless and the quinoa salad was just nasty. Breakfast the next morning was also uninspired. January is a slow month but perhaps a time to re-evaluate food service...     A fantastic view from a great pousada

    We booked a sea view room with balcony and as promised we were not dissapointed. We had a beautiful spacy room with a big King Size bed. On the balcony we could overview the entire city of Viana do Castelo with the basilica as a centre piece. The view is ESPECTACULAR !!!The bed was comfortable and the bathroom well-equiped.As a big surprise we got a free bottle of champagne for my wife birthday, thanks !!!We strongly recomment this pousada!!     5 Star View, 3 Star Hotel and 1 Star Service.

    The staff and service were sub par, nobody ever greeted us with anything but a begrudging Bom Dia. Upon arrival we were not welcomed and check in was perfunctory. In general the staff seemed untrained, unhelpful and unhappy. The rooms are nothing to write home about with dreadful water pressure and a dowdy feel. The only high spot is the unbelievable views from the terrace. Stay in town and just visit for a drink !
