    A fascinating historic quinta.Nothing is perfect except the hospitality. A most enjoyable one night stay.Portugal as it was , still retains abundant features .Grand , simple , honest and a delight.Not for everyone but if you like good wine , ample food and character, it might be for you.Pet friendly , rural , quiet and friendly.

    Old World Manor House

    We had 4 nights here at the end of our stay in Portugal. It is a beautiful authentic place to spend a few days, quiet, chilled, in a terrific old house restored to be as original as possible back in the 1980s. Loish was a brilliant host, providing local food and wine and helping point us in the right direction for some local sightseeing. We stayed in the large suite at the front of the house, one of only six and enjoyed the views, the fire, the wine and mingling with other guests. We also really enjoyed the tour of the permaculture garden. A fantastic way to end our trip.

    Well situated attractive manor house restored by present owners. Comfortable room with view of the farm. Staff helpful and pleasant. Breakfast with local fruit and homemade jams.The dinners good but rather repetitive. Lacks finishing touches.

    Beautiful, tranquil country house in a spectacular natural setting

    Beautiful family-run traditional quinta in a spectacular natural setting with views, about 3km from Chaves. The house is amazing, with lovely grounds and swimming pool. They also have a beautiful marquee with a view where they hold weddings and events. Peaceful and relaxing and close to nature, which is what we were looking for. Breakfast is good and we also had dinner there one evening (25 euro a head but includes a bottle of nice wine from the region). My partner had the beef and I had the goat (first time tentatively trying it)...both were absolutely delicious!! All local produce, much of it coming from the estate itself I think, and everything is done with care and well thought out with really nice touches everywhere. Most importantly, the owner Luis and family and staff were really nice and warm and made us feel most welcome. They spent the time to chat, giving us great information and suggesting some amazing routes and places to visit. We had a wonderful stay!

    Beautiful place, very friendly people

    A authentic Portgese place, it almost looks like a castle. Very friendly people, they know a lot about the area and the history. Rooms are big, clean and nice and all different from each other. Garden is nice and peaceful, with fruit trees. There are some animals, like chickens, horses and sheep around. It’s very close to Chaves, an old, historical village.
