    Unique and memorable experience in Douro!

    My husband and I stayed in one of the Quinta’s unique wine barrel rooms while in Portugal, what a treat! We reserved the wine barrel without a pool due to the time of year we were visiting Porto however, if the weather were warmer, we would have 100% rented the one with the private pool. The property itself is beautiful and is a blend of older with historic nostalgia and modern upgrades. They are currently adding additional rooms to the property and are said to be modifying the private wine barrel offerings to include a heated pool for stays during cooler months such as the time of year we visited. The hospitality was fantastic. We ended up arriving into the Douro region a little later than expected, which created a challenge for us to utilize the spa services due to the time that they close. We really wanted to take advantage of the water circuit amenity. The hospitality staff was so kind as to allow us extra time after closing to utilize our paid time slot for the experience. The wines were great & the wine tasting and tour was fantastic. We also really enjoyed the quality of our drinks at the bar that they have on property. Be certain to reserve experiences that you would like to partake in well in advance of your stay. During the busier months, the reservations can go pretty quickly. When in season, they offer grape stomping. It’s a lovely addition to add to your experience that unfortunately we were not able to do. It’s very typical for peacocks to visit the window outside your room, which is a cool benefit of the barrels. As are most of the Quinta‘s in the Douro region, the property is pretty isolated, so options for meals are relegated to the property. If traveling from Porto, it is best to rent a car to visit the area as it doesn’t seem that Uber is a popular feature there and may pose as a challenge returning back to Porto. We were glad we did. The town is more of a village and feels very much like traditional Portugal. My only wish was that the property did have a hot tub feature in the spa and it would have been nice to have that attached to the wine barrel rooms. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay and would 100% stay at this hotel again.

    This is an exceptionally nice, impeccably clean hotel and a really good restaurant. We would gladly stay there again. It is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, and there is a winery and tasting room on the property, and peacocks patrol the grounds.There are a few things that could be improved, however. One is that it is a complex of buildings, and it would be helpful for the owners to provide a map identifying where things are. Especially for a short stay, its easy to get lost in the maze of buildings. The residence building is modern and very comfortable, with barely adequate lay down space for traveler's toiletries. Patrons should be aware that the shower floors are slippery, and the shower doors are heavy and can slam closed with great force. there are no grab bars in the shower.The property's refusal to use plastic is a good thing, but I wonder if providing soap in glass containers in the shower is wise.

    Our stay at Quinta da Pacheca was unforgettable! The drive there was breathtaking, surrounded by vineyards and green hills. We were welcomed with a glass of the hotel’s delicious port wine - with a special touch!The hotel is luxurious & peaceful, our room had stunning vineyard views - magical! We joined the wine tour of the hotel's vineyard - their port wines were exceptional. The wine-tasting place is surrounded by a glass-wall in which you can see amazing views! Breakfast- 10/10 - fresh, diverse, and the fruits were insanely good! Afterward, we relaxed at the spa - also 10/10! amazing pool with a jacuzzi and massagers inside!The staff did beyond to make our stay special. The peacefulness of this place is priceless. I highly recommend this incredible experience we had here!🍷✨

    Wonderful stay in the wine barrel room

    We stayed one night in the wine barrel room. The room was a bit dark inside but very cozy. The vineyard view out the window/door was gorgeous. The staff provided excellent customer service. We enjoyed the wine tasting and tour. We also ate dinner in the restaurant and the food was very delicious. We had after-dinner drinks in the bar and breakfast was in the area for the wine barrel room guests.
