  A nice place, good hospitality but the wines were average and the prices was high

  We felt that we did not get our money's worth for this trip. The place is nice, off the beaten track, under renovations at the moment. The wines were a bit disappointing though the guy who showed us around was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We also felt the price was quite high/

  Excellent Farm We went 5 days to relax and it could not be better. The accommodations are fantastic with a big bathroom, bedroom and another room with sofa, TV and small dining area. Our Suite had direct access to a beautiful garden where we had our breakfast every morning. The breakfast arrives daily on a picnic basket at your door. Orange juice, fruits, ham & cheese and coffee of course. The farm itself is incredibly beautiful with lots of trees and nice relaxing areas. Swimming pool very nice and large with beds far away from each other to preserve your privacy. You can also taste wines from the farm vineyards and make long walks by the river Lima towards the city of Ponte Lima that is 1 hour walking along the river from this Quinta do Ameal. Incredible stay and no regrets for the expensive price. Will return for sure.

  Lovely place, viciously racist owner

  The owner unfortunately holds - and shared with us - a series of extremely racist views on Muslims, as well as his support for the Brazilian far right and their attacks on minorities, indigenous peoples, LGBT+ people, and the Amazon rainforest. Which was weird, for a place that theorectically places a lot of value on nature and sustainablity. An uncomfortable experience that I was happy to leave as soon as possible.

  A wonderful short stay in near Ponte de Lima

  We loved the charming French country decor at Quinta do Ameal Iolanda and staff provided delicious fresh breakfast baskets daily and local attractions and restaurant recommendations. Pedro toured us through a recently added cottage with thoughtful country chic decor which would perfect for a family or two couples! We enjoyed an extensive tasting of Quinta do Ameal wines with Pedro and some visiting guests which was a highlight of our vinho verde experiences! We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and in return from our day out touring there was a vase of beautifully arranged flowers from the estate and a bottle of wine with a thoughtful note. Our first trip to Portugal has so many wonderful memories and experiences and the warmth and hospitality at Quinta do Ameal is on top of the list! We would love to return.

  Fantastic Quinta!!

  My wife and went there on tour - just the two of us. It was a bit of a drive but oh so worth it! We were met by Pedro, the owner, who showed us around his boutique winery. They produce about 100,000 bottles a year of different varieties of vinho verde, which was a surprise to us since it was not sparkling like all the other vinho verdes we have had before. We had lunch there with wine pairings supervised by Pedro. Our apps were a tuna spread and olives - excellent. Our main course was salad (which we had been sorely missing in Portugal). chicken curry and rice which was a surprise. Dessert was cheeses and Pedro’s favorite ice cream. All of the food was absolutely excellent! And the wines - what can I say? We had three wines paired with the meal. The lack of sparkle actually made it better. I told Pedro and I will tell you - these are the best white wines I have ever had!Understand that tastings and/or meals must be booked in advance. The also have five guest suites. Pedro showed us one. It was absolutely beautiful with the largest shower I have ever seen!Pedro was a charming host with excellent English and a wonderful sense of humor.
