Pristine accommodation in an historic area.

You get to the place following a road alongside the oldest roman bridge in Europe! Children were bathing in the river and jumping off the bridge when we arrived. There are two cafes within walking distance. One sold a kilo of prawns for 20 euros, the other was more of a local tavern frequented by the local people. Be prepared to put up with the chiming of the bells throughout the day and night from the local church. It didn't worry me at all, my son in law is a light sleeper and had a little difficulty with the sound at the beginning of our stay.We were greeted warmly by the owner. Her husband accompanied me to the hospital when I came down with tonsillitis 24 hours into our stay. He was a perfect gentleman and made sure we were taken care of and didn't get lost. I have never stayed in such a spick and span place. There were beautiful white counterpanes on the beds, the towels the bathroom were as white as snow. The house has been renovated to a very high standard. Though old fashioned it is very quaint. Every morning breakfast was prepared for us in our kitchen. Fresh rolls, warm milk jams. Our rooms were cleaned every day. The pool was adequate, the children loved splashing around. The little pool at the side of the larger pool wasn't open at the time we were there. The girls also liked the play room with the table football. If there is any criticism it would be the chairs in the living room were very well upholstered but we just couldn't relax in them and the television in the corner was rather small. I would recommend a visit to Ponte de Lima it is only a short distance from the Casa.
