This welcoming hotel is situated in the tourist district of Porto, only a few minutes away from the centre with plenty of shops, boutiques, cafés, restaurants as well as further shopping and entertainment venues (around 1.5 km away). The airport is about 45 km away and Praia Suave Mar is roughly 1 km from the hotel. The beach is easily reached along the slip road, which runs directly beside the hotel. Links to the public transport network lie about 1 km away. Bars, taverns and the nearest nightclub are to be found within 5 km of the hotel.

Facility

The hotel has 10 suites and 74 double rooms, which are located on 3 storeys and are reachable by lift. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day.     Superb location, next to the beach. Nicely appointed rooms. Staff are incredibly nice and helpful. Barkeeping waiters were especially helpful and friendly and introduced us to local wines. Overall, fantastic experience!!

    A Peaceful Little Gem with Wonderful Staff

    We had a wonderful stay at Suave Mar Hotel and would happily return. We requested a pool view and were delighted to get a lovely second-floor room overlooking the peaceful courtyard pool area. The rooms are large, very clean, and well equipped, with plenty of storage space for everything you need. The housekeeping staff do a fantastic job and cleaned the room daily to a very high standard. The toiletries provided in the bathroom were also a lovely touch.The reception staff were always friendly, welcoming, and extremely helpful with advice and recommendations. In fact, every single member of staff we encountered was kind, attentive, and happy to help with anything we asked for.The pool area is a real hidden gem — tucked away in a secluded courtyard surrounded by beautiful architecture and floral arrangements. It felt tranquil, peaceful, and wonderfully quiet, making it the perfect place to relax.A special mention to the bar staff, who truly went above and beyond during our stay. We asked the bartender for a corkscrew, and not only did he open the bottle for us, but he also kindly offered us an ice bucket and glasses to take back to our room. Such thoughtful service really made our stay extra special.This hotel is a peaceful little gem and we were so happy to have found it. Thank you to everyone at Suave Mar for your wonderful hospitality, you have been amazing.

    Nice room with partial ocean view.Not a fan of the open bathroom right at the foot of the bed.No coffee or tea, or a bottle of water, or glasses.Also the dinner and breakfast were a bit late at 7;30. Most guests are pilgrims , so you think they would have another earlier time.however, across the road, is a place to eat earlier than 7;30, which was nice.

    Hotel Suave Mar presents itself well at first glance, with attractive facilities and the appearance of a comfortable stay. Unfortunately, this is where the positives largely end.The service at reception is consistently poor and, at times, frankly baffling. On more than one occasion, multiple staff members were present behind the desk, yet only one appeared to be working while others stood by, making no effort to acknowledge waiting guests. Even the most basic courtesy—such as a simple “I’ll be with you shortly”—was noticeably absent.Attention to detail in the rooms is equally lacking. Something as standard as providing water was overlooked, which sets the tone for the overall level of care and consideration.The bar staff were a notable exception and deserve credit for being professional and attentive. However, this only serves to highlight the shortcomings elsewhere. In the restaurant, organisation was poor; for example, only a single menu was available for multiple guests on the half-board option, forcing us to share. The evening meal itself was deeply disappointing, both in quality and presentation, and fell well below what one would reasonably expect.The most telling moment came when I approached reception to ask a simple question about breakfast times. I stood waiting while the receptionist remained on the phone, without any acknowledgment whatsoever. When the call ended, rather than addressing me, she walked away. When I eventually managed to ask my question, the response was abrupt and unwelcoming, bordering on dismissive.Taken together, these experiences point to a fundamental lack of customer care. While the hotel has the physical attributes to offer a pleasant stay, the indifference and poor attitude of key staff—particularly at reception—undermine it entirely. Without a significant improvement in service standards, it is difficult to recommend.
