A quiet retreat from the crowds

    rating19 Apr 2026

Stunning hotel….staff was beyond fabulous…shout out to the terrific Alan at Reserva bar….food was ok but his drinks were magnificent! Daniela, Flavio and Yannick at the restaurant were top notch! Marina at the breakfast restaurant was a delight. Housekeeping….impeccable. Get a room with balcony overlooking the river. Oh and Riy (not sure I am spelling this correctly) was dynamic and gave us great advice on what to see in Porto. A quiet retreat…

Beautiful Hotel, Shame the service and guest experience did not match.

    rating05 Apr 2026

Beautiful hotel over looking the river, Unfortunately not the service or guest experience of a 5 star hotel.Upon arrival wanting to have lunch on the terrace, where unable to do this due to there being nothing sufficient for us on the Menu (Being vegetarian) and where moved to the bar area, Room service for breakfast did not provide a coffee with soy/oat milk despite requesting and having available.Where unable to use the pool without a swimming cap, and the outdoor pool was not in use as needed to be cleaned.Worst part was the noise, loud music, disturbance and intrusion from the terrace/restaurant below, loud music played until late at night, other guests singing, shouting and disturbing us and the hotel management did not care, saying they where “enjoying” themselves but no consideration for us.I would not recommend staying here if you want to have a relaxing and respectful trip or break, I have started to wonder if the hotel are homophobic as we travelled as a couple and received far less warm welcome than others.

Amazing hotel in every possible way. The desighn is unique and very beautiful, small hotel but 5 stars. The breakfast was anything you can hope for, and the pool area both out side and inside is amazing. The jacouzzi was not operating due to a problem, it was fixed on our last day but it looks amazingThe room with the balcony was with great view and large! with a huge shower and stand alone bath - with view of the Douro river. All was very very clean and well maintained. The hotel has a Sissely Spa- I had a special water treatment + message with Daniella.Daniella was amazing- ask for her! she has great hands.

A Beautiful Stay with Room for Improvement.

    rating11 Aug 2025

We recently stayed at this hotel and were genuinely impressed by its charm. The rooms were spacious and beautifully maintained, the gardens were lush and peaceful, and the views were absolutely stunning. Dining was a highlight—delicious food served in lovely surroundings. However, a few details fell short of the five-star standard. Some of the sunbeds were quite worn, and the decking in places was loose and noisy, which detracted from the otherwise tranquil setting. The air-conditioning in our room wasn’t working properly, making it a bit too warm for comfort.Service varied—some staff were outstanding and went above and beyond, while others, though polite, lacked attentiveness. We often had to get up and request drinks, which isn’t ideal for a luxury experience.Despite these minor issues, we had a fantastic time. With just a few improvements, this hotel could easily deliver a flawless five-star experience.
