Location

The hotel is a highly sophisticated architectural gem nestled on Puerto Rico's north-eastern coast in Coco Beach, Río Grande. It brings the privacy and exclusivity guest deserve, and allows them the opportunity to escape from the rest of the world. Against the backdrop of the El Yunque rainforest, the villas and pavilions rise from an oceanfront landscape of gardens, pathways and pools. The hotel is located on a lush peninsula just a scenic 30 minutes from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport and greater San Juan.

Facility

Guests have a choice of 486 non-smoking rooms. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The bungalow complex has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The complex has wheelchair-accessible facilities. There are a number of shops, including a supermarket and souvenir shop. The grounds of the complex feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional facilities include a playroom. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the car park. Rooms

Rooms are equipped with air conditioning, individually adjustable heating and a fan. Guests can enjoy the view of the pool from a balcony or terrace. Rooms have a double bed or a king-size bed. Children's beds can be requested for younger guests. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Additional features include a mini fridge and a tea/coffee station. Various wellness options are available at the complex, including a spa, a sauna, a steam bath, a hammam, a beauty salon and massage treatments. Additional leisure activities include an entertainment programme, a kids' club, live music and a nightclub.

Meals

Various dining options are available, including a breakfast room, a café, a bar and a pub. Warm hospitality and a cosy atmosphere await guests in 4 non-smoking restaurants. Refreshing drinks at the beach bar are a perfect way to enjoy warm weather. Catering options include bed and breakfast, half board and full board. A continental breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. For lunch and dinner, guests can order à la carte. Diet meals and children's meals can be prepared on request. The complex also offers special catering options. The complex offers a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

    This was our first Caribbean vacation. Family of 4, kids 6 and 3. We rented a Deluxe Villa, two queen beds. The villa is very nice because there’s a kitchenette. A few supermarkets are within 15 min drive. The resort is conveniently located 30 min from the airport and is an easy drive on the Autopista. We rented a car to see surrounding sites. The resort is large and beautiful with a massive main pool, swim up bar, loungers and rentable day beds. The villa has a smaller, but still sizable, pool with bar and free daybeds at first come. The water was a refreshing 82 degrees and crystal clear. Drinks are nice. We even received two complimentary welcome mojito tickets at check in (or mocktail). We aren’t big day drinkers but the ones we had were refreshing. The beach is adjacent to the pools and there is a nice palm lined walk between the sections with scattered hammocks and lounge chairs. Small little beach carve outs line the shore which was fun for small kids. They loved finding coconuts (and trying to crack them) and watching the pelicans dive for fish. The main beach is nice sized and not too deep for kids. The waves aren’t rough due to the reef a little ways out. The sand is made of crushed shells, pebbles and coral; note, it’s not the fine sugar beaches of other islands. The water was Caribbean blue and nice for amateur snorkeling. The staff were excellent and attentive. One of our kids has many food allergies and at each restaurant they tried to make something work. They always reported back on what was and was not possible. Juanisha (sp) at Nectar was so kind and responsible with our food order due to food allergies. At the lobby bar, my son knocked a wine glass over and shattered it. The food and beverage director, Jean Carlo Velez, was incredibly attentive, first making sure everyone was ok and not cut. He and a service member immediately cleaned up the area and also sent us a fruit tray and bottle of wine to our room. We weren’t even upset about the glass and thinking more it was our fault. Regarding restaurants, my recommendation is to book reservations way in advance. There weren’t many reservations available a few days before we arrived, however, we enjoyed the lobby bar menu, Nectar and the pool taco trucks. With young kids, sit down dinners are hard. The lobby bar allowed them to run around on the grass while we parents waited for food and had a cocktail. We took advantage of the close proximity to El Yunque Park. We did the Angelito trail which was perfect for young kids. We were able to jump river rocks and wade in the river. Additionally, we did a half day in Old San Juan. It felt like Europe, with its cobblestone streets, colorful buildings and old world architecture. Parking and driving are difficult in OSJ. Be prepared to find full lots and no street parking. It was a bit overwhelming compared to the relaxation of the resort. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve. It is perfect for families with kids of all ages. Staff were genuinely kind and helpful. Puerto Rico is a beautiful island and I recommend it to anyone consider a trip.

    Came to the Hyatt with my family of four, including two daughters, ages 8 and 6. Truly had the absolute best time, and my oldest came down with the flu while we were there! So that’s saying a lot! The hotel grounds are absolutely beautiful. We loved the layout and that things were spread out. Instead of having a giant high-rise with 10 floors of rooms, you have “bungalows” spread out all over the property. We had a king room and it was huge. Pull out couch and we were able to get a roll-out bed for one daughter to use while the other took the couch. Plenty of space for a family of four. The huge pool is definitely a high light of the hotel. It’s so big that you never feel like the place is crowded. We rented a daybed cabana two of the days of our trip and really enjoyed that experience. Also, the beach at the hotel is so nice! Much larger than I was expecting and the water at the hotel beach was very calm the entire time we were there. Like I said, my oldest came down with the flu about 2.5 days into our trip. The hotel staff were able to locate a doctor to come to our room and check her out and write prescriptions. The doctor was able to confirm flu and made sure her lungs sounded clear and we were so relieved to be able to have her seen and he was at our room in 30 minutes once we confirmed we wanted him to come to the hotel for a check up. All of the staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful. From the front desk, to housekeeping to all of the folks working at the pool. Everyone was lovely. Also, the quality of the food everywhere at the hotel was outstanding. Breakfast buffet was excellent. We had dinner at Nectar twice and loved it. And also had a lovely dinner at Nori Asian. We were VERY impressed with how good the food was on site. We are already planning our spring of 2027 trip! We loved Puerto Rico and the Hyatt Regency was the perfect place for our family to stay.
