Large rooms at moderate prices, bad wifi

    rating08 Mar 2023

My first impression wasn’t great: I wanted to inform the hotel of my very late arrival after midnight, but they did not respond to emails, they did not respond to WhatsApp, they did not answer WhatsApp calls. A regular phone call was answered, though, on the second attempt. I was assured that the booking would be held, and was told that reception was open 24/7.When I reached the hotel, everything went smoothly. I was quickly checked in and the receptionist spoke adequate English. Later, they printed boarding passes for my flight home and called museums to check opening hours etc.My room was larger than average for a three star hotel. It was perhaps a bit worn out, but nevertheless functional. The biggest negative was that it reeked strongly of old tobacco smoke. Other than that, I found it okay. Overlapping curtains kept the room pitch dark, the double bed was comfortable, there were two armchairs and a coffee table as well as a desk & chair. There was ample storage space, a fridge and two 0.33 L water bottles replenished daily, but no safe. A/C was a bit noisy but kept the room cool. I did not hear any noise from my neighbours.Wifi was free and unlimited, with no sites blocked, but at times the speeds were very slow and especially uploading proved to be quite a challenge. Don’t plan any teleconferencing here! The bathroom came with a walk-in shower. Water pressure in the handheld shower was awful and it took a few minutes for the water to become warm. There was a sink and a toilet. Amenities included single-use shampoo, shower gel and body lotion as well as soap, dental kits and a comb, which was an impressive array for a three-star establishment.Breakfast was served daily from 6 to 11 in the restaurant next to the lobby and cost 40 SAR. It consisted of both hot and cold items, mostly Arabian options as well as some fresh melon and omelettes made on request. It was rather basic but also not expensive. There is also a snack bar in the lobby serving sandwiches, pizza and pasta at moderate prices. There is a small rooftop pool, about 7.5 m long, with pleasantly warm water. On asking, I was told it is open from 10 am until midnight, but I got the impression that you can use it pretty much any time you like. The hotel is located about 30 min from the airport. The taxi from the airport cost 77 SAR. It is difficult to comment on the location – it is two blocks from Palestine Street, there is a minimarket on the next block, a large supermarket about 450 meters from the hotel and lots of dining options on Palestine Street. But Jeddah is a large city and extremely spread out, so no matter where you want to go, it will always be at least 5 km away and there is no public transport. Taxis to Old Jeddah were 15–20 SAR and took less than 15 minutes. The hotel has three stars, which seems right. I paid 41 EUR a night including taxes, but not breakfast, and I think the hotel was well worth it.

    ease and Comfort

Dyar Inn is a combination of comfort with ease of access to Jeddah Cornish. Rooms are wide enough if you have your family. And it is walking distance from Palestine street where you can find wide selection of restaurants and cafes. Good place

I spent 3 nights in Dyar Inn Hotel. The hotel is good, clean and quite. Not far ( 2mn walking distance) from jamjoum center and near to restaurants and supermarkets( panda and bin daoud). The room is spacious and has the necessary amenities. Breakfast should be diversified more. Staff at reception were very helpful and welcoming.

Good location and an ok hotel

    rating01 Mar 2017

Used this hotel for 3 nights while travelling with family.Hotel staff is a little inexperienced in dealing with customers. In my first stay I asked for two baby cribs and had both delivered to my room. Both cribs were sat to the upper position and as a parent this is the first thing you notice as the kids may jump out and hurt themselves. I asked housekeeping to convert the crib to the lower position but they told me they didn't know how to do it. I explained to them how it is done and told them to have them fixed before we come back so the kids can sleep in them, I left the hotel at 11 pm and came back at 1 am while both kids were sleeping in the stroller to find out that nothing was done. Called reception and he could barely understand English or Arabic. At 3 am, someone knocked the door, open and there was the receptionist and one of the housekeeping guys asking me to show them how to fix the cribs...lol. I got angry as he knocked the door at such a late hour and for being so dump not knowing how to fix the crib and I told him go ask google..anyhow, 20 min. later he had them fixed. On the first stay at check in I paid for 4 nights but later on decided to stay only for two nights. So at checkout I asked for a refund on my credit card and the receptioinst took a copy of my credit card and he said you'll get the refund in two days. I went to my car and sat there thinking how he can refund without having the original credit card as usually other placed took my card and did a negative charge for the refund amount. Returned to him and asked him to confirm if they can refund based on the card copy he took, he called accounting and surprisingly they told him they can't refund on a credit card and they have to refund me cash. This also shows how incompetent the staff was as if I left I'd have to come back to Jeddah to collect my refund. Also, he wanted to take 15 SAR out of my refund as he was refunding in cash not back to my credit card, I told him that this is thier problem not being able to refund my credit card...he handed me my refund and had no change to deduct the 15 SAR and asked me if I had change to pay him the 15 SAR...whatttt...lol anyways I didn't have change and he let it go.overll, hotel is ok. didn't try their breakfast so I can't review thatHotel is close to alhamra walk and jeddah fountain. the walk has many restaurants and cafes that are open to late hours.
