    How can this hotel be part of the Mercure chain?!?!

    I do not understand how Mercure can allow this hotel to be part of their chain. I specifically chose a Mercure in order to benefit from international standards. The service at reception was terrible. The Wi-Fi hardly worked and was very spotty (we had to use the one of the room next door because the one in our room didn't work). The TV didn't work. They use an Internet TV and because the WiFi was so poor, it didn't work. The room was outdated. Eco-friendliness is an unknown concept : they had small plastic bottles for shampoo, shower gel... instead of the big ones you now find in almost all international chains. Breakfast was nothing to write home about. And did I mention how unfriendly the reception was?

    Building work in progress, too much noise, internet not working, staff not responding to requests, I cut my stay short and moved to another hotel.Always late for whatever request then they are sorry, Don't hope to be treated as a returning customer, you are not even on their recordsI will never return to this hotel

    Nice 149 room 2013 hotel near the Al Hamra Corniche.

    My wife and I stayed 4 nights, arriving at 10:30PM from JED Airport by taxi(US$23). A nice receptionist copied my passport, couldn’t find my Accor reservation made on June 23rd (discovering this hotel is no longer affiliated with that brand), couldn’t get my credit card to work without the required pin/password(a different receptionist the next morning reconfigured the machine to my card), then provided the key cards and upgraded us to a suite. We followed the porter to one of the 2 elevators and up to the 2nd floor. Room #208 was clean and carpeted, opening to a couch, chair and 2 tables, then into the spacious bedroom with a closet/hotpot/refer across a desk unit with a large TV(Euro News and 2 movies in English) and 2 easy chairs. A comfortable king was positioned very close to the fully outfitted but tight bathroom with tile shower.The central AC(wall control) purred with white noise. There was good secure WIFI and quick hot water. The small indoor pool(too shallow) and a worthy adjoining gym were behind the lobby. The 6:30AM breakfast was very good with several hot dishes, lots of fruit, an egg station, breads, juice, yogurt, meats and cheese, a coffee machine and regular coffee. We noted couples, families and numerous European contractors during our stay at this quiet hotel. We walked 400m south to the Pizza Hut/Dunkin Donuts, 550m west to the Gazzaz ATM and 750m north to the large Bin DAWOOD supermarket.

    It was for a business trip, the location is good, the employees were very professional and attentive but the property is outdated and will need of total refurbishment.
