Outstanding in a time of pure need.

    rating06 Dec 2024

Due to missing our main flight from Mahe International Airport, as the weather conditions delayed our island hopper plane from Praslin. At 22:00hrs at night we were in desperate need of a place to stay. Luckily Hotel La Roussette managed to get us in. We got a taxi from the taxi rank at the airport for 500rupees and headed literally 10-12mins to the hotel.Once we arrived as it was tipping it down with rain we were greeted with pure kindness handed a warm dry towel and quickly shown to our room. We were in the hotel for a matter of hours before catching our next flight. However, the room was clean and tidy. Perfectly working air-conditioning unit. The shower was very good. It was dark when we arrived however our room overlooked the swimming pool in which was beautifully lit up. The towel decor at the end of the bed made me smile after a rather hectic time trying to book flights. Also felt incredibly safe in the complex. Big tip, think twice about booking a holiday in rainy season dec-Feb. Fortunately we were there from the middle of November the weather was incredible. As soon a December came so did the rain! Thank you once again for helping our in a time of need 🥰

    Superb quiet holiday spot

    rating20 Mar 2024

We stayed in La Rousette 12 days in March 2024 and we can confirm, it is definitely not just the way to airport. Their very friendly and helpful staff will help you with anything you need and even more. Hotel has all day open restaurant and bar just for the guests, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Here is very nice and quiet garden with nice pool and sunchairs for your use all long day and afternoon.Rooms are recently renovated, spacious and very clean, with terrace and tea - coffee corner, small fridge.Hotel is located in the middle of the Mahe island, so whenever you want to go, everything is nearby. Here is big parking area, but also bus stop nearby. Tickets available close in Anse Aux Pins bus station.Very close you can visit Anse Aux Pins beach, where you can see local life and chat with locals. Beach is calm and shallow, incoming tide with more clear water in afternoons. Trees with shady places closeby.Market is also very close and also few restaurants and take aways. They even found a way to offer us late check out on the day we had to leave! Big big thank you for that!!!!Finally - even if its not fancy beach resort, it is beautiful quiet spot in Seychelles with superb people and airport is quite close to you both coming and leaving...We really warmly recommend!!! HOTEL LA ROUSSETTE, HAVEN OF REST AND TRANQUILITY.

    rating07 Mar 2024

Three years ago my husband and I discovered this wonderful little Mahe Gem! It's only a few minutes drive from the airport and yet it's blissfully quiet. Thank you Linda for being the perfect hostess to two weary elderly South Africans aged 95 and 80, whose departure day in Cape Town commenced at 4am! After two flights, a wait in Johannesburg, a late arrival and a 10pm exit from Mahe airport, what a joy it was to find your delicious late night snack, tea and coffee, a spotless room, a lovely hot shower and a most comfortable bed just waiting for us to crash! There was Lea, your delightful Filipino helper staying up late to welcome us back so warmly. Hotel La Roussette is fast becoming like a second home to us after 3 perfect stays.Thank you Lin for arranging for your faithful and punctual taxi driver, Anthony to meet us again. It is always such a comfort seeing his friendly face in the Arrivals hall. He has become such a cheerful welcoming new friend to us that he no longer needs to wave his Welcome placard in our direction! He happily shouldered all our luggage and allowed us time to withdraw Seychelles rupees at an airport ATM.After a wonderfully refreshing sleep and a relaxing start to Monday morning, we enjoyed a delicious full English breakfast served by your two charming helpers from the Philippines before being transported by Anthony back to the airport for our 20 minute flight to Praslin in the little Twin Otter de Havilland just after lunch. We highly recommend this charming little Haven for all late night arrivals who need to recharge their batteries before embarking on the Seychelles holiday of a life time. Hotel La Roussette is a real Winner! Ronald Robert, General Manager at Hotel la Roussette, responded to this review To the most amazing two people that we have had the pleasure of sharing in our lives, we offer over and over again our heartfelt thanks for just always being so incredibly amazing.I know I have said this before, but it is kind Souls such as yourselves that enrich our lives in more ways than words could ever express. I pray that time treats you both kindly and that we will have the pleasure in welcoming you back in the very near future. You positivity, humbleness, incredible kindness is missed.Loves and hugs from across the miles

    Farewell La Roussette! Appreciation

    rating01 Nov 2023

This hotel was an exquisite find about 10 years ago near the airport. It is impeccably clean, comfortable and was always our final relaxing location before flying out of the Seychelles. It's inexpensive and is value-added for the rates charged. The rooms are spacious with wonderful showers that is just what is needed after arriving from the islands before the departure flight.New staff member at reception, Mr Rajesh from India was incredible. His attentive service, welcome, and action responses were much appreciated. It is suffice to express a degree of sadness after about 10 years of memories as the stopover before flying out.New management has excluded a day rate that is understandable as it's their prerogative to determine the schedule of stays and charges. It does not make economic sense to pay for 2 nights, that is the night before and next day in order to secure a day room. Furthermore, a revised itinerary with a few days on the island of Mahe at other hotels is the way forward as farewell with appreciation is expressed.

I only had 20 hours to wait for my flight out and it was just sad to see animals being treated like this.

    rating28 Feb 2023

It was a pleasant stay but I was very traumatised by two huge tortoises that was being kept is a small sand pit with no vegetation and they looked nearly dead. They are such beautiful animals in the wild or in a big garden where they can live a happy life. This was just plain anx simple cruel! I would be prepared to pay for them to be set free on the tortoise island. Thank you Linda-May Robert, General Manager at Hotel la Roussette, responded to this review Warm Greetings from the IslandsWe thank you for staying with us and it was our pleasure to have been of service to you.We wish to offer the following response to your review with regards the tortoises. We can understand where you are coming from and we take note of your concerns.I offer the following in our defense. These tortoises have been with the family since babies and they are loved dearly.Unfortunately we are unable to allow them to roam freely as not all clients are kind to animals and if they are given incorrect feeds, they may become very ill. They are situated close to the office where we are able to keep an eye on them. Also we have the main road we have to worry about as should they be allowed to roam they could possibly land up on the road, endangering them. It would take a crane to lift them up and return them to safety. Each morning their park is swept and cleaned and they are given their feed which includes fruits and vegetables and fresh water. They are visited every 3 months by our local vet to ensure that they are in good health.Additionally, we have submitted plans for approval by our Planning Department to have the park extended but await the approval before we are able to action the building works.I just wish that you had taken the opportunity to raise your concerns with us in person during your stay. It would have afforded us the opportunity to explain the situation, the difficulties we face with clients also wanting to constantly ride on the tortoise and also the opportunity to show you the plans for the planned extension of the park. I wish to add that as a fellow South African, my family and I absolutely love animals of any kind and are very much involved in animal rescue. Rest assured that there is absolutely no cruelty involved as you have stated. We are doing our absolute best, the best way we know how to ensure that our tortoises remain unharmed. Please rest assured that the health and well-being of all our animals remains our priority.Wishing you a pleasant day further.Linda Robert
