Great Hotel ideal for everyone in a lovely city

    rating09 May 2026

As a disabled traveler, the Danubia Gate Hotel couldn't do enough to make our stay a great one. The staff went above and beyond for whatever we asked for, especially Tom on reception who was so helpful. The situation was ideal, just a short distance from the old town. close enough to see all the sights, and far enough away from the crowds. The lunchtime menu of the day was brilliant value for money, and very reasonable. Great local food as well. The hotel had everything we could have asked for, including an accessible room for me and my wheelchair, and of course my wife. We have already recommended this hotel to many of our friends. Bratislava is a lovely city. Not to be missed Thank you to all the staff at the Danubia Gate Hotel.

    Fantastic stay!!

I would like to thank all the staff at this hotel. From the moment I arrived at the hotel i felt like a valued guest. All staff were friendly and welcoming, those on reception, in the breakfast room and the cleaners all of them were fantastic. The hotel itself is spotless and I absolutely loved my room, a fridge and kettle were provided which is always a bonus. The hotel is situated not far from the historic centre and staff are very willing to help if you need any information. The breakfast room is small but cosy and there is a wide variety of food to chose from, you will not go hungry. Well done everyone at Danubia Gate an example of hospitality at it's finest

    medium city, great hotel

The hotel is located 10 minutes walk from the Old City and Eurovea Mall and there is a lot of public transport (you can take tram 1 from/to the central train station to/from Centrun and a five minutes walk) and shops nearby. For observant Jews, it's about 10 minutes walk from the synagogue and Chabad Center. The room is big and comfortable with a lot of storage space and more lighting than in any hotel room I saw. The sleeping quality is good although you might need to close the window facing the street. There were some problems with the wi-fi but mostly solved by the staff. The hotel is very small – about 40 rooms – which means that the staff knows you and assists you and the atmosphere is pleasant. As an observant Jew, I was delighted to learn you can get vegan bread for breakfast (along with vegetables, fruits, dairy products and eggs) and that every room has also a mechanical key you can use on Sabbath (you may knock on the front window and the reception worker will open the electric doors; ask also to open the door to the stairs).I'm not sure if I will return to Bratislava – the city is not exciting and a single visit is enough – but I do highly recommend the Danubia Gate Hotel.

    Terrible experience

    rating07 Feb 2026

We stayed at this hotel before and were satisfied, which is why we returned. This time, we booked a triple room and were placed on the first floor in a cold, poorly maintained room with serious hygiene issues. The room was so cold that an extra electric heater had to be brought by the staff. The bathroom was dirty, the bathtub had permanent stains, and the toilet was unstable. We saw the room immediately after check-in and contacted both the reception and Booking on the same day, yet we had to stay in this room for the first two nights and no solution was offered. When we complained, instead of taking responsibility, we were told that this happened because we booked through Booking. We were also informed that the upper floors are “four-star” while the lower floors are “three-star.” An interesting concept — a hotel with floor-based star ratings. In short, both the room quality and the attitude were disappointing. We do not recommend this place.
