    Clogged shower

    We had a disappointing stay at your hotel Because the shower was clogged. I had to stop the water mid shower and let the water drain until I could finish my shower.The hotel attendant, came up and cleaned the shower drain. Her service was excellent. She provided additional towels. My roommate who took a shower, thought the drain had been fixed so she did not realize the shower water was overflowing into the bathroom all the way to the toilet. We had to go downstairs and get even more towels. By the next morning, the bathroom was smelling of sewage.

    Where do you even begin!The Air con was off the day we arrived. It was 26 degrees in Ljubljana. You have no option but to open the windows for ventilation. Our room was above the alley that has an all night bar - which seemingly never closes. We were treated to a night interrupted by drinkers chatting, arguing and eventually, fighting. Close the windows, and the room turns into a sauna.The issue was raised every morning with the hotel staff, who told us there was nothing they could do. The aircon was set to warm, as it is going to be turning colder. The second night was the same - stuffy room, and you have to have the window open to sleep, but the noise prevents it. We considered moving to another hotel at this point, but as we had spent a small fortune on our five night stay, decided to stay here and just get on with it.The cleaning of our room comprised swishing the sink round, and replacing the toilet roll, should that be required. The floor was not cleaned once during the five nights we stayed.Breakfast was good, but only on the mornings they actually managed to bring out the things we ordered. We sat and looked at the staff on their phones while we waited to be served.On the final night (Ljubljana had warmed up again) the hotel finally managed to switch on the aircon. It made no difference. Another night with the window open. The carpet was still filthy.Overall, the hotel badly needs an overhaul. Carpets are worn out, taps leak, and the aircon is never going to work. It comes nowhere close to being a four star hotel. There is a pool, which is how they get the extra star, but it is not heated, so is too cold to use.Reading the reviews from Summer 2025, it is clear that none of the issues we experienced have, or are likely to be addressed, so our conclusion is to strongly advise against staying at this hotel.     Room for improvement...

    Firstly, I should say that the reception and breakfast staff were friendly, helpful and efficient, we were made to feel very welcome. The check-in process was smooth and our room overlooking the river made a promising first impression.Unfortunately, not everything was as it should be. The air-conditioning did not work at all. We had to claim one of the rather dilapidated fans to help move air around in the room, but this was no substitute for functional air-conditioning. I notice, looking at previous reviews, that there have been complaints about this since at least July of last year. The management / owners really need to address this as a matter of urgency.There were other faults. On one of our three full days the room wasn't cleaned at all - this was very slapdash. On another day the cleaners failed to notice that we were nearly out of toilet tissue. The 'plug' in the bath was inadequate and leaked water throughout the bathing process.This was all something of a disappointment, as we loved Ljubljana and the hotel was in an enviable location. With more attention to detail and a fully-functioning air-conditioning system our experience could have been much better.     Funky hotel in too location

    Fabulous location in the heart of things, right on the river. Great staff, fabulous breakfast and restaurant and lovely big room looking out on the river. Comfy bed and big bathroom with walk in shower. Only issue was that there was no comfortable seating in the room - three ottomans and one recliner type of chair does not offer comfortable seating. Would have absolutely made the room if there were a couple of really comfy armchairs that one could relax in after a day of roaming the city - instead of having to either lie on the bed or use above mentioned furniture. Sometimes good design is also about being functional not just looking cool.     Don’t stay here stay at the Cubo!

    Unfriendly staff on reception (the same on two different occasions). Very average room - much better available in Ljubljana for cheaper.No coffee machine in the room (when I queried this I was told I could use a cappuccino sachet and a kettle).No breakfast before 8am. We had to leave early so were offered a ‘breakfast bag’ with a sandwich left outside our door the night before. Yuck.Contrast with the lovely friendly and helpful people when we stayed at the Cubo. Go there instead!
