New renovated, top location. It has two larger (indoor) swimming pool complexes, one is next to the hotel + saunas, and one is connected by corridors.

Great value for money in the center of Portoroz
16 Oct 2025
We were looking forward to our stay in the renovated hotel Riviera. Our rooms were equipped with everything we needed, they were clean and the beds and pillows were super comfortable. We felt like queens. Our car was parked by the valet and he even brought us our phone to the room which we forgot in the car! Reception was also very welcoming. Breakfast was delicious and had wide choice.

Good location

Nice room and great location. Located within very short walk to waterfront restaurants, this was a nice hotel. Beds are very hard, but they have very nice spa services that we took advantage of. Our room had a balcony, but many do not. Very quiet and sleep was okay after we go comfortable with the bed.

The rooms and the hotel have been renovated. The hotel is located in an excellent location, by the sea. Staff friendly. The rooms are a little smaller, but beautiful. The pool is a big plus, which is in the hotel. The dining room is smaller, but the food offering is excellent

Our First and Last Stay at Hotel Riviera
02 Jan 2025
Small details can either make a guest happy or, in the case of Hotel Riviera, disappointed. On the positive side, the reception and the restaurant staff were very kind, and the room was nice. Beds are very comfortable with firm mattresses. However, there were several issues that are not typical of a 4-star hotel. For example, we ordered room service breakfast by placing the order card on the door the night before, as instructed. But when breakfast did not arrive at the scheduled time, we called reception, only to find that the staff hadn’t even picked up our order card. The breakfast arrived 1 hour late, and there were no plates provided to eat from. The swimming pool was crowded, and one would expect a lifeguard to be attentive, but instead, we saw one watching their cell phone all the time. We also noticed a couple smoking e-cigarettes next to the indoor pool, and no staff intervened. The cleaning service was poor (probably understaffed). We got a feeling they wait for you to come home to your room and hope you won’t want any service when they knock on your door. Towels were exchanged, but no other cleaning was done since we were "at home'. A sheet on a bed was torn, too amd it wasn't a good impression.Tables in the restaurant are numbered with paper cards, and ours was dirty with food and never replaced during our entire stay. Drinks at dinner were very overpriced — it was actually cheaper to drink wine from the room's minibar than to purchase it at the restaurant.A kettle for hot water should be a basic amenity in a 4-star hotel, but you won’t find one here. Additionally, there’s a note warning guests not to use the minibar for their own food or drinks, and if you wish to do so, you must "rent" the fridge. Same for the bathrobe -.if you want to use it, you need to rent it for €6.As for parking, it's virtually nonexistent. There are only a few spaces in the hotel parking lot/garage. Prices of other parking start at €1.20 per hour (payable 24/7) for private parking behind hotel, while street parking is even more expensive. While we had an enjoyable holiday, we would not return. The value for money simply doesn't justify the experience.
