  Great Experience

  10 Jun 2026

I recently stayed at the Cabanas at Sun City, and overall it was a pleasant and relaxing experience. The hotel offers a more laid-back and affordable option compared to the other Sun City resorts, which makes it perfect for a casual getaway. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with nice views of the gardens and lake areas. While the décor is fairly simple, it still felt modern and inviting. One of the highlights was the peaceful atmosphere. It’s a great spot if you want to unwind and enjoy nature, especially with the walking paths and birdlife around. The pool area was also enjoyable, especially on warm days. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, always willing to assist with directions or requests. Check-in was smooth, and service at the restaurant and bar was generally good. The location is convenient, with easy access to the main Sun City attractions like the Valley of Waves and the Entertainment Centre, either by shuttle or a short drive. On the downside, the hotel is more basic compared to luxury options like The Palace or Cascades, so don’t expect high-end finishes. Also, during busy periods, it can get a bit crowded, especially around communal areas. 30 May 2026

It was our 50th anniversary The room issues were;Down lights 3 not working Basin plug not working Sliding door faulty Hair dryer faulty Internal phone no explanation how it worksWe asked for zero percent complementary sparkling wine and got the opposite with only one glass we never got the second one.My wifes gloves was taken from the breakfast table and had a story to get back. Odirile Sebolao, Guest Services / Front Office at Cabanas at Sun City, responded to this review Dear lscheepers04,Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary to you and your wife. Celebrating half a century together is a truly remarkable milestone, which is why it breaks our hearts to read that your stay with us did not live up to the occasion. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the lapses in service and maintenance you experienced.A special celebration should be seamless, and it is deeply disappointing to hear about the multiple issues in your room from the faulty sliding door and downlights to the lack of clear instructions for the phone. I have shared these details directly with our Maintenance and Housekeeping teams to ensure these rooms are thoroughly checked and rectified immediately.Furthermore, I am incredibly sorry for the mix-up with your complimentary sparkling wine and the missing glassware, as well as the frustrating experience regarding your wife's gloves at breakfast. This is far from the attentive, celebratory hospitality we strive to provide. We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to connect with you directly to hear more about your stay and see how we can make amends. Please feel free to reach out to our Guest Relations team 014 557 1580 We hope you will give us another chance in the future to give you the flawless, special experience you both deserve.Warm regards,Dorah Molefe Guest Relations Manger 014 557 1580 dorah.molefe@suninternational.com

  Disappointing and run down.

  16 May 2026

Printer was not working so we needed to search for email confirmation at valley of waves each time. Needed to phone 3times about shower not working over 2 days before someone was sent. Checked I'm as a family of 4 but made no communication that the sleeper couch would not be made so when arrived at room with 2 very tired children we had to spend time making up the bed so they could sleep. Staff smoking near children's jumping pillow so had to leave twice. No heated water attractions anywhere except at suncity hotel (off limits to cabanas guests). Children's areas- trains, camp kwena, pirate ship, finders keepers (permanently shut), all really run down. Avery very disappointing with garden shed in there open with dangerous tools accessible by the kids. No after hours service available at cabanas at all - needed to walk up to Sun city hotel. Seat on shuttle bus wasn't attached at all so fell on floor when I sat down. All in all a huge let down. Odirile Sebolao, Guest Services / Front Office at Cabanas at Sun City, responded to this review Dear cvd2026,We are deeply sorry to read about the highly disappointing experience you and your family had during your recent stay at the Cabanas. The safety and comfort of our guests, especially children, is paramount. Hearing about the accessible garden tools, the smoking incident near the children's area, and the faulty shuttle bus seat is deeply concerning. We have escalated these points to our safety and transport teams as a matter of urgency to ensure immediate corrective action is taken. We also sincerely apologize for the poor maintenance response regarding your shower, the lack of communication regarding the sleeper couch, and the breakdown in after-hours assistance. This falls far short of the hospitality we strive to provide. We want to look into this further and address your concerns personally. Could you please contact our management team directly at 014 557 1580 or dorah.molefe@suninternational.com We hope you will give us another chance in the future to give you the flawless, special experience you both deserve.Warm regards,Dorah Molefe Guest Relations Manger 014 557 1580 /014 557 1903dorah.molefe@suninternational.com

  Hit & Miss!

  03 May 2026

I've titled this review 'Hit & Miss' as we've stayed at this property many times before, but you never know if you’ll have a good experience or not!!!Our most recent experience began on Friday, 1st May 2026. We checked in at reception at 16h00, and headed to the 2 rooms I was allocated. The bookings were as follows: 2 adults and 1 child in Room 1; and 2 adults and 2 children in Room 2. Rooms 2267 and 2268 were allocated to us. These rooms are the smallest of the lot (in my opinion) and have a sleeper couch squeezed into the room, on which only 1 child will fit. Both rooms were the same. Having stayed in the Standard Family Rooms previously, I headed back to reception to request a change of rooms to the Standard Family Rooms we are normally allocated, and for which our bookings were made (Issue 1). Without any hesitation, our rooms were changed, and we made our way to the new allocation (2254 and 2255). As I entered my room (2254), I noticed cases of alcohol being wheeled into Room 2253 (next door), and 3 young adult males entered. From this, I knew were in for a long night! Our 2 rooms were comfortable, and as we remember the family rooms. The party next door, and in the corridor, continued until 03h55 on Saturday morning (Issue 2). This included loud music, slamming of doors, screaming and shouting (by young women and men), knocking on my door at 02h00; and just sheer commotion. Eventually, at around 4am, we fell off to sleep. We called Security regarding the disturbances at around midnight (I think), to which I am aware that Security requested the party hosts to keep the noise down. Naturally, this fell on deaf ears. The Sun City Parkrun at the Gary Player Golf Course at 7am was a welcome relief! At breakfast, we waited patiently in the Vegetarian egg station queue at the lower seating area, and noticed something we have not seen before (Issue 3). Even though this was the vegetarian egg station, I guess because of the queues, there were people in line with plates filled with ham/bacon. The chef made their omelettes and placed it on the ham/bacon using the spatula, naturally touching the meat with the spatula. So much for vegetarian / contamination! I called the catering manager (Abraham) and explained the situation to him. His response was that the chef was new and had probably forgotten that a clean plate was required for every egg prepared there. Nevertheless, I left the queue, and Abraham ordered omelettes for me from the upper vegetarian egg station, which, according to him, has a seasoned chef on duty. Please also ensure that the cobwebs on the extractor canopy above the lower vegetarian egg station are removed, as they are unsightly!I engaged with the duty manager after breakfast, and with the Security supervisor thereafter, who assured me that Security will patrol Block 22 on Saturday night to prevent the happenings from the night before from recurring. This was definitely actioned as there was no party or noise on Saturday night, even though I did not notice the security patrol. On Sunday morning, after noticing Housekeeping providing bottled water to the party room (2253) throughout the weekend (and on the housekeeping carts), we asked why bottled water was not provided in our 2 rooms (Issue 4). We were informed by Housekeeping (who were quite rude at this time) that bottled water is only provided to group bookings. Even though this made no sense whatsoever, we left it at this. I noticed that, even at the silver MVG level, 1 perk is 2 bottles of water per day in the hotel room. I am an MVG Gold member. Perhaps I should've received 3, not none! What is the point of being an MVG member if one cannot enjoy the benefits? We received a late check-out until midday, though! Will I return? Probably, but I wish my next stay is a 'Hit'!
