    Kam'bati Fly Resort

    rating14 Apr 2026

They should change their name to Kam'Bati Fly resort - terrible fly problem. We booked a 3-night stay and although the tent was well equipped, our Hot Tub was leaking. We reported it to Reception who said maintenance would come and fix it, they did not! We also asked if our rubbish could be collected and were told to leave it outside and they would be down to collect, when we left the rubbish was still there, covered in flies. Don't eat the pizza, it is disgusting and for what they charge! Ours was half cooked and inedible, landed up throwing 3 pizzas' away. Wanted to remove the pineapple from the pizza and they said they couldn't as the pizzas were pre-made. I hate to think when they were pre-made as the bacon also tasted weird. One bite and I spat it out! I wouldn't book at this establishment again, so many nicer ones and would certainly never recommend this to friends.

    Unpleasant experience

    rating08 Mar 2026

This was probably the worst camping trip that I have ever done. We arrived on the Thursday afternoon and when pitching our tent I was surprised at the number of flies that there were even though the wind was fairly strong. We got through Thursday night and when I went to the office on Friday morning to inquire about some fly repellent I was told that they would be spraying that afternoon and that this would resolve the problem. Well, they didn't spray on Friday afternoon and the attached photo shows what we had in our tent as a result of this. I tried citronella candles and other candles that I bought in Swellendam that afternoon but nothing helped. My grand kids arrived on Friday afternoon and we were hoping that they would have a pleasant stay but meal times were horrendous. Friday night was "not too bad" because of the wind but the Saturday morning breakfast was a nightmare. Whatever you put on the table was commandeered by flies. I went back to the office and was told that now they were going to spray on Saturday afternoon, which fortunately they did so the Saturday evening meal was edible. However, clearly they spent all their money on fly spray and could not afford gas for the showers so we were subjected to cold showers on Saturday evening.I will not be visiting Kam'Bati again and will recommend it only to people that I dislike immensely.

    Top marks for Kam Bati!

    rating20 Mar 2024

Our stay at Kam Bati Resort near Swellendam, Western Cape, was fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel very welcome. Fishing in the River Breede was a highlight, especially catching and releasing a couple of catfish. The accommodations and facilities were top-notch, adding to our wonderful experience. Highly recommended for a great mix of outdoor fun and comfort!

    Week stay at Kam'Bati

    rating28 Dec 2023

We booked in January for our stay in December. We wanted to stay for four nights but were told you only take week bookings in December. I excepted it as such, but during our stay, families were staying for two nights, three nights. We were told you changed your policy in September due to low bookings. Why did nobody contact me so I can change my booking? We specially drove to Kam'Bati from Hermanus to come and have a look at the stands. We chose B14 as on the map as Tanja told us that B11 won't be used so the whole area would be ours and I can do my fishing on the riverbank. Since arrival people were camping on B11. B14 was also taken, so we settled for B12. B12 is actually a nice stand as you can fish at the bottom. Things just change at Kam'Bati and you just have to fall in as you already have your money. Ablution facilities are also lacking for the number of stands. Two showers and 2 toilets for block B and C is ridiculous. As I said B12 is actually a nice stand, and our first few days were nice and relaxing. Then you broke your own rules and put five families on B18. Your rules state six people per stand. Five tents and five cars just above us. The noise was terrible. Their kids were totally out of control. One kid just standing above our tent, screaming at the top of his voice, parents don't car. Three girls sitting outside our extension watching us having breakfast. Parents don't care. I did complain about this, nothing was done, and I was told they have special permission to stay on one stand, ridiculous!!!If management make a decision like that, why not put them at the end of block C so they won't be a bother? On the 27th, Wednesday night, B23 was having a big party and was very loud until 23h30. Nothing was done about that. B18 was singing their Muslem songs and playing Muslem music on Thursday morning, 28th. Nothing was done about this. Nobody enforces your "strict" rules. This is a pity. Your rule state, no music and quiet after 22h00. We went for a drink at your bar, wanting to have have Southern Comfort and Ginger Ale, no Ginger Ale. No big problem, we switched our mix, then the barman could not get the bottle open. I had to do it for him. My wife then asked him if he has anything that we can just mix our drinks. He just looked at her as if he did not understand her. We used our fingers. He took my money, no thank you, no nothing. He needs to do another job, he has no barman manner. Actually, no manners at all. I asked for a long braai drum as I wanted to make a potjie, Alten-John promised me he won't forget, I am still waiting. I have been wanting to come to Kam'Bati for a long time and you came very highly recommended by our friends that have visited your facility. I think I might have misunderstood them. Guys, this can be such a fantastic facility, but you lack structure. Stick with your rules, as we take decisions based on those rules.
