Location

This city conference hotel is situated in Cape Town close to a good selection of bars and restaurants and right in the centre of the tourist area. The nearest nightclubs are about 500 m from the hotel and countless shopping venues are to be found within 2 km. Located 3 km from the sea and 5 km from the nearest beach, this hotel is also just 5 km from the V & A Waterfront.

Facility

123 rooms, including 3 junior suites, 14 suites and 103 double rooms, are located on 10 storeys and can be reached by lift. English-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day. Services such as a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service ensure a comfortable stay. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. A number of shops, including a souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. Additional facilities include a TV room. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park (for a fee). Further services and facilities include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service, a childcare service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service (for a fee), an alarm call service, a laundry service, a coin-operated laundry and a hotel shuttle bus. Bicycles can be kept in the bicycle storage area. A business centre with fax machine and projector is available.

Rooms

Air conditioning and individually adjustable heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. All rooms are carpeted and include a double bed or a king-size bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Additional features include a refrigerator, a mini fridge and a tea/coffee station. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio, an alarm clock and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Slippers are included. A hairdryer and a telephone are available in the bathrooms, which are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. As a special feature, bathrooms are also stocked with cosmetic products and a selection of towels. Guests can also book wheelchair-friendly rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms. The hotel has family rooms and non-smoking rooms.

The indoor and outdoor pools are ideal for exercise as well as relaxation. Guests can relax and enjoy the sun loungers and parasols provided. The pool bar serves a selection of refreshing drinks.     If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. Old, dirty, incredibly rude staff. Feels like a hot sheet motel and, to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the majority of their target market. They even make you stand in the lobby (20mins in my case) to see if you’ve trashed the room before letting you leave.To make it worse, they never refunded my security deposit nor ever bothered to followup on it. The process involved filling out a paper form and physically writing all your card details (dodgy as hell), however a month later nothing received. Eventually followed up and after ignored emails and an escalation through my travel agent they did get back to me and make up all end of excuses. End result; they suggested filing a dispute!Who knows how many deposits they’ve stolen from customers. It’s not hard to miss 600ZAR, especially for intl clients. One of the most dishonest establishments I’ve ever crossed in my life and a total embarrassment to the South African tourism industry.

    1. Hair in the bathroom.2. Construction literally in the rooms next door and surrounds with black plastic sheets in the corridors.3. Asked to be moved because of the noise and was told it’s ‘policy’ that I will have to pack up my bags and be out the room at 11am then can only get my new room at 2pm!!!!! Ended up getting very upset and they moved me to a new room without having to loiter for 3 hours.4. Safe didn’t work.5. Made to pay a R900 deposit at check in (which was not communicated) incase I ‘mess up the room and run’6. Told a spoon is missing from my room at check out, when I hadn’t touched the tea and coffee area and had to delay my departure and accusation turned out to be untrue (obviously)7. Generally felt unwelcome by reception, but room service and door staff were lovely. 8. Construction around the tiny pool area.9. Personally, I feel that because this hotel has the words ‘Cape Town’ in it, that they will have tourists etc booking just for the name , so they don’t have to worry about customer service because they have new customers always and don’t need to rely on repeat business (just like the airport restaurants) and that this allows them to run as they wish without customers needs in mind.

    We did not have a good experience staying at this hotel. It is certainly not a 4 star hotel. Parking is a problem and you pay R150 per day just to park your car at the hotel. Rooms/tv/facilities are very old and the establishment is in need of an upgrade/revamp. Breakfast was average. I would not recommend this hotel to family and friends. The only positive is that it is very affordable for Cape Town.

    Noise of the Hotel, music in passages not a good idea for Business Travel. The Reception and the Renovations are too bad for Aura of the Business. Breakfast quality too bad.

    One thing that they don’t disclose until check-in is that they require a R300 security deposit for every night you stay there.
