    Comfortable stay in Stellenbosch farms

    rating02 Feb 2026

The room was clean and functional. Not really much charm but it was comfortable, quiet and private. The staff was very welcoming and helpful.I would have liked to have more freedom to walk around the property, but access to the non golfer is only before 7am and after 7pm.Nice and big swimming pool.We liked the restaurant. The breakfast, included in the price, has a large selection both on the hot menu ans cold buffet.

What a great place this turned out to be

    rating31 Dec 2025

This was a really good find and we thoroughly enjoyed it.But let’s start with what it isn’t. The title implies you might be staying in a place which is like a wine farm with tastings, behind the scenes viewing and a shop. In fact it is a hotel on a golf course, where there are also residences. The nearest you get to wine here is in the bar and restaurant.Since we like wine and not golf we thought this choice might have been a mistake. But it was a nice surprise. The rooms are functional and we very much liked our garden with Braai capability, kitchenette and separate bedroom. Everything was very secluded. The site has great security although the facial recognition element almost never worked. The views are beautiful and we especially enjoyed the outdoor breakfast on the first floor deck overlooking the course. Unlike so many hotels breakfast was menu driven and delivered to you. Only the cold selection was a buffet. There was a nice pool and an attentive waiter. It might have been cleaned more effectively - too many dead insects and leaves. But comfy sun beds - choice of shade or sun with bathrooms and changing facilities right there. As for the wine - well it sits very close to many brilliant wine farms - even in the same road. So whilst we were disappointed not to have on site it was easy to access others - even though it meant running the gauntlet with the facial recognition every time!Nothing is too much trouble for the great staff and every request was undertaken with a smile. But one of the reason why they are dashing about is because no one notices things that need doing. This is rural South Africa - the staff will walk past the empty orange juice dispenser ten times without noticing but run and get you some if you ask. Sugar, condiments, place mats and cutlery were often missing from the table settings and once again it was always cheerfully corrected. You just wished that they noticed it and saved themselves countless extra journeys. I hope I am painting a picture of very nice and helpful staff but who were generally almost always reactive and rarely proactive. Finally the prices were amazing - the accommodation, the food and drink, the laundry. Exceptional value for money. Added to that the location, scenery, and facilities converted our initial disappointment to a really positive outcome.

Hotel on a golf course close to Stellenbosch

    rating25 Mar 2025

This is a simple hotel with pretty much everything you need, located on a golf course and perfect for couples or families. We had a suite, which was really a small apartment, with a kitchenette, lounge and en-suite bedroom. All the meals are served in the golf clubhouse, where the food is superb (way above what you would expect from a normal golf club). the pool area is nice (although it seems that the designers didn't think through access as you have to go out through reception and the car park to access the pool). The staff are wonderful, and the food great, and the golf course is pretty good too. My only complaint is the security software that they use to control car access to and from the resort is frustrating. The software (using facial recognition) simply doesn't work consistently, resulting in a time wasting and frustrating sign in process almost every time you come back from an excursion.

    Good experience, great team!

    rating25 Nov 2024

Devonvale Golf & Wine Estate offers a picturesque venue for conferencing. The Blumberg room we used has break taking views and ideal for smaller groups of up to 30 people. The food was great, and the chef checked with our participants after every meal to incorporate their suggestions and preferences, which made them feel like a part of our event more than just a host. From Thomas, Malcolm and Ingrid at the restaurant, Chrissy and Olie from events, Zoe and Monique from the reception to BB, everyone put in extra effort and made our stay memorable, making this one of our best conferences in the many years our programme has operated. Great teamwork and reflective of the management's good leadership. We would recommend them for corporate events and private stays! Might spot some springbok, while walking around the estate :) Annie Provoyeur Walgraef, Marketing at Devonvale Golf & Wine Estate, responded to this review Thank you for your kind review. Satisfying our conference guests, and all guests, is our rule. We look forward to welcoming you again.
