  DO NOT USE THEIR VALET - They damaged my rental car and left me with the bill!

  I had a terrible and incredibly frustrating experience with the Holiday Inn Cape Town regarding an incident on January 31, 2026. I left my rental car (from SANI SIXT) with their valet, and it was damaged while in their exclusive care.At the time, the valet manager and hotel staff admitted fault. They even signed an official liability document taking 100% responsibility for the damages, assuring me they would cover all costs and handle the issue directly with the rental company.Unfortunately, their written promise meant absolutely nothing. The hotel failed to follow through, did not pay the rental company, and completely mismanaged the situation. As a direct result of their negligence and broken promises, the rental company charged my personal credit card for the damages the hotel caused!I have been sending emails to the hotel management with the documents they signed, demanding they honor their word and fix this, but they are completely ignoring my messages. This level of dishonesty and lack of professionalism from a well-known hotel chain is unacceptable.Beware: if their staff damages your property, they will write you a useless letter to get rid of you and leave you to pay the bill. Avoid their valet service at all costs. I still demand an immediate resolution and a full refund.   We stayed here for 5 days, hotel is average but if you get it at a good price which we did it’s worth it. The beds are very small and the lighting is very poor, the breakfast is included free but not many options for a Muslim or vegetarian. The area is a bit unsafe although we had no incidents after dark you do feel the urge to keep looking over your shoulder.

  Sitting right on St George's Mall at the corner of Church Street, this IHG property pitches itself as a smart, no-frills urban base in the heart of the Cape Town CBD. And for the most part, it delivers on that promise — but only just. The price point makes it attractive, and for a short city stay you'll likely walk away reasonably satisfied. However, if you're expecting a polished, consistent hotel experience from check-in to check-out, you may find yourself tolerating a few too many rough edges. It scores well on value, but maintenance inconsistencies and a few service hiccups keep it from climbing into truly recommended territory. Think of it as a reliable workhorse — useful, central, and decent value, but not a place you'll gush about when you get home.LOCATION:This is, without a doubt, the hotel's strongest card. Planted in the middle of Cape Town's CBD, you're a stone's throw from Greenmarket Square, Long Street, the South African National Gallery, and the District Six Museum. During the day, the area buzzes with markets, cafés, street vendors, and art galleries — it genuinely feels alive. The flipside, however, is that once the sun goes down, the CBD quiets down fast and safety becomes a real consideration. The area has its share of homeless individuals and general CBD-after-dark unpredictability, which is a reality of Cape Town's city centre rather than anything specific to this hotel. Daytime, though? Brilliantly positioned.DINE + DRINK: The breakfast is super boring and absolutely not worth waking up for! This was one of the biggest let downs of our stay!ROOM: We stayed in Room 1001, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; VIEW: OK view of the street and cityscape ; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM:Good sized bathroom with a Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Good quality toiletriesFACILITIES: Compact Gym with a basic range of weights, workout stations, and Cardio machines. SERVICE: Friendly staff that cared for all our needs with a smile and made us feel at home and well taken care of. HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, and the speed is good!   We stayed here for our first night in beautiful Cape Town. The staff were great and all ultra helpful especially Marlon who helped with parking and information..The room was basic but clean and provided all we needed. Breakfast was lovely. The hotel is very central and has a market right outside (we had no noise issues) with secure parking.Overall perfect for our needs with friendly helpful staff.Thank you Enkosi

  Service and communication were excellent. Both before our arrival in Cape Town and during our stay. The location of the hotel was convenient. The staff helpful and professional. The room was clean, spacious and quiet. I would stay here again.
