Location

The apartment hotel is situated on the beautiful Lagoon Beach, just 7 km from Cape Town's central business district and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, a hub of activity any time of the year. The hotel is only 2 km from the renowned Milnerton Golf Course and just 5 km from the Canal Walk Shopping Centre. Guests will find bars in the immediate vicinity, while the nightlife of Cape Town is around 10 min on public transport. The BRT bus station is just a 3-minute walk from the charming beach hotel. Other nearby places of interest include Table Mountain and Cape Town Stadium (both 7 km), Robben Island (3 km) and Winelands (40 km). Guests have a choice of 4 suites, 54 apartments and 225 double rooms located in two 3-storey buildings with lifts. The reception desk is open round the clock.     CONS-Restaurant moved down the road without warning guests -TV internet doesn't work at all -Internet would disconnect at random and completely disconnect if you went to the bathroom-Bathroom door got stuck and we had to request it be repaired -Entry door to room stuck, locking us in and we had to request it be repaired -Airconditioner did not cool room -Fire alarm 8am woke us up with no information if it was a drill or a really emergency -Shower drain was clogged and flooded the bathroom and corridor on first use -Basin did not have a hole cover and plugged with bottle lid stuck in the drain-Fridge freezes everything that is inside -Fridge cooks anything on top of it-Fire alarm at 8am for no apparent reason (noticed a fire company convention at same time)-Couldn't give us single beds when requested -Water luke warm at best in shower -No mention of construction when booking-Stairs to upper pool slippery causing injury to the written -Grills by upper pool falling off with pigeon nest inside -When we checked out at 10.30am we were given a receipt with no mention of us leaving a day early and when the reception staff were questioned we were met with "that's not our problem".PROS- Cleaning staff who service the rooms do a fantastic job and I hope they are acknowledged for their professionalism and quality of work - restaurant staff are doing a fantastic job

    We are totally thrilled by this accomodation. All our ideas and wishis were fully fulfilled! The entire staff in the breakfast room and especially „Sonia Sidinana“. She has touched our hearts. We wish her and her family all the best. We were also very impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of „Matthew“ in hotel management who made much possible that previously seemed impossible.

    The Smell Was Only the Beginning

    We arrived to a pungent odor filling our room. I went online to discover that sometimes the lagoon emits landfill-like smells. The linens were stained. The heater didn't work. The phone didn't work, so to get room service I had to walk 200 meters to the restaurant. I contacted the Host Agent within hours to seek a refund so we could go elsehwere but was refused. If you ignore this review and try anyway, I recommend you not pay in advance. We paid for 2 weeks. We rented through Marriott Homes and Villas, whom I thought I could trust.     Room was clean & neat, looks like it was recently upgraded. No hand soap in the bathroom hand dispenser. Bathroom hand basin outlet plug pipe, completely blocked - "lovely" when trying to brush your teeth, with filthy water filling up the basin. Staff preparing breakfast for a Conference Group, having their morning briefing outside our room, extremely noisy. Once we had finished dinner, had to hunt for someone to remove the soiled plates, very sad as there was only one other couple in the restaurant, which makes you wonder "WHY?" they are so quiet.     When you arrive and enter the hotel, you are stopped in front of a very basic table before to access the reception. That's the security check that asks you for your ID and why you are coming in.I booked a table at the restaurant and was asked to go there.I arrived early and wanted to have a walk around to check if I would like to stay there or check the other restaurants. I was not allowed and was requested to ask to the reception to be escorted. Nobody was available, so I did my own tour. Not much to see, but especially no atmosphere. Big empty halls and conference rooms, with only white walls - no deco. It looked like a government building.My tour was quick.I went to the restaurant and have been seated to a window table. It was night, so I couldn't see much, but I guess the view is nice during the day. So good point for the table selection.I placed my order for the menu.Starter was the pear and camembert tart. I liked the combination, but I found it a bit too sweet. Creative.The main was the grilled line fish with caper and lemon beurre blanc. I found the fish a bit dry. The seasoning was nice. The serving was quite big.The dessert was the pear and ginger toffee pudding. Taste and texture were quite good. I was not hungry anymore, so couldn't appreciate it as much as I would have.Service was friendly and accommodating. a bit slow at some stage.Unfortunately, my dinner was ruined by the table next to me, who came to the restaurant to watch movies, and didn't understand that in a common space, you have to put headset. Problem of atmosphere as well. That was a reminder to avoid restaurant in hotels.
