    Convenient and spacious hotel

    rating20 Nov 2025

The hotel is conveniently located near the attractions in Cape Town. We were able to walk to everything that we did which was great. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. They very generously agreed to hold my luggage while we went on safari for 4 nights. The rooms were a bit noisy in the morning because of nearby construction, but I am sure that will pass. Charmaine April, General Manager at Protea Hotel Cape Town North Wharf, responded to this review Dear YostieThank you very much for sharing your experience with us. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our convenient location, spacious and clean rooms, and the friendly service provided by our team. It was our pleasure to assist with your luggage during your safari trip.I sincerely apologize for the disturbance caused by the nearby construction. Although this activity is external and beyond our control, we understand how it may have impacted the comfort of your stay, and I truly appreciate your patience and understanding. The construction is temporary, and we expect the noise levels to improve soon.Thank you once again for your valuable feedback. We hope to welcome you back on your next visit to Cape Town and provide you with an even more enjoyable stay.

    My First Protea Property!

    rating11 Nov 2025

My first Protea property ever. But not bad at all. Keep in mind from what I'm gathering the Protea brand is more budget friendly so factor that into my assessment. The location of the hotel is within minutes of most main attractions. It's in-between busy roads. A few restaurants in walking distance and coffee places...etc. Not far from the water or shopping. I did have to go and get help for my luggage, it's budget friendly so bellmen aren't just waiting for you to pull up. But they we're slightly eager to help once notified. Check in was a breeze. Rooms are very clean and spacious. I can't remember if my Marriott status was recognized or not due to it being a moreso budget hotel with only 3 room types I believe, upgrades weren't my focus. But the views I did get were just ok. They also acknowledged my birthday, after giving them a subtle prompt. They we're on it. Decent property if your watching you budget and still want a spacious clean environment that seems to hold to the Marriott standard. Charmaine April, General Manager at Protea Hotel Cape Town North Wharf, responded to this review Dear JeremyThank you for sharing your detailed feedback regarding your stay. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the spaciousness and cleanliness of your room, as well as the convenient location near main attractions and dining options. We appreciate your understanding of our budget-friendly approach and are glad our team was able to assist you with your luggage and acknowledge your birthday. Oldster hotel, good sited but sterile rooms, need to walk out for dinner at night, noisy building site

    rating09 Nov 2025

The hotel is on the whole "OK" - it is quite well located about 15 Mts/1 km. walk from the V&A Waterfront, which can be safely reached in daylight, but even here we were advised to get an Uber after dark, which is a little disconcerting. This is also something to be aware of for evening meals, as thuggery now have no even restaurant and you will need to go out...plenty of restaurants locally but....It is an old hotel and has been here for some time - the rooms as "mini apartments" as are really impressive for their size, but a little sterile and getting old. During bout stay it was also loud, we were facing a building site and 7 days per week they start working at 0630 which is not amusing if you wanted to sleep in.Breakfast is good, the usual hotel yet up. The roof top pool looks like it has been forgotten - it is literally just that - a pool. 4 deckchairs, no space for anything else, no towels or cushions or umbrellas, no one is around. shame.all in all it was OK but I would not come here again, I would find the extra few rand and stay closer to the V&A. Charmaine April, General Manager at Protea Hotel Cape Town North Wharf, responded to this review Dear DavidThank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re pleased to hear that you appreciated the spaciousness of our rooms and the convenience of our location near the V&A Waterfront. At the same time, I sincerely apologize for the noise from the nearby construction and any inconvenience it caused during your stay. I also regret that the rooftop pool did not meet your expectations and that our on-site amenities did not fully support your visit. Regarding your safety concern after dark, we take guest security very seriously and appreciate your feedback as it helps us review and improve our recommendations for evening outings.Your comments are invaluable, and we will use them to make improvements where possible.I hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for a stay that better reflects the standards we strive to deliver.Thank youCharmaine AprilGeneral Manager

Great hotel for a stay in Cape Town

    rating27 Sept 2025

Room was extremely spacious, clean and bright. There was a washer/dryer, which is of huge appeal while travelling. The restaurant had pleasant staff and good food (prices were also very good). No blow dryer was in the room, which was unfortunate do to the voltage differences, so I had to buy one down there. I also had an electrical issue one night when I tried to run the washer and an iron at the same time. It took over an hour to get power back to my room.
