    Great 👍

I truly enjoyed my stay at protea tygervalley. It was comfortable, clean and they serve a superb breakfast.Thank God there were other options for Halal eaters...cereals, pastries, fruit, yogurt, tea and coffee and lovely, refreshing juices. We enjoyed our stay so much that on our way back home from CT , we booked at the Marriott in Illovo.I guess the hotel is old...dirty carpets and the room stank plus we had late night visitors...the cockroaches 😄.Otherwise it was Okay...we played putt putt and table tennis, enjoyed the walk to the beach. Melissa Uys, Marketing at Protea Hotel Cape Town Tyger Valley, responded to this review Dear Valued Guest,Thank you for your lovely feedback. We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay, found everything clean and comfortable, and appreciated the breakfast and halal‑friendly options. We’re so glad your experience was enjoyable, and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.Kind regards,

Too many stairs andd food not up to scratch.

Despite decent accommodation it does not seem disabled-friendly but I could be wrong. Unfortunately you cannot put meals or drinks on your hotel bill. This might be because the restaurant is separate from the hotel??? The restaurant menu is limited and a tad expensive for what you get given that the food itself is rather poor Melissa Uys, Marketing at Protea Hotel Cape Town Tyger Valley, responded to this review Dear Valued Guest,Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, and please accept our sincere apologies for the delayed response. We are sorry to hear that aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations.Your comments regarding the stairs, disabled‑friendliness, restaurant billing, menu variety, and food quality have been noted and addressed with our team. We take this feedback seriously, and it has been discussed internally to ensure we improve the experience for all guests.Thank you once again for bringing this to our attention.Kind regards,Protea Hotel Tyger Valley Team

Protea - what a pleasant surprise, well done!

    rating26 Jul 2025

As a business woman I prefer to stay in guesthouses for a more personal touch. But Kudos to Protea in Tyger Valley - Laaiq went out of his way to make my arrival personal, and a note was in my room from the person who will be looking after my room for the next two days (will certainly leave her a tip now that I know her name), the shower is mold free (not the usual black corners), huge bed, bright light at the desk area for working, a tissue box in the bathroom (wow), and a microwave in the room on top of the small fridge. Well done Protea - you surprised me! Budget Friendly hotel.

    rating29 Sept 2024

Room is a little small for three adults and the highway is really close to the last block but the staff was really nice and the restaurant staff was really great and accommodating. Tyervalley mall is really close if you are looking for something to do.

Hotel too close to the N1 Highway

    rating14 May 2024

We chose this hotel as they are part of the Marriott chain and to be close to the Capetown Airport for our final days of our stay. There are 3 "rows" of hotel rooms on this property. We stayed for 2 nights in the middle block of the property, and needed earplugs to reduce the road noise from the N1 at night as the windows are only single pane. The double bed room is small, but looks recently updated with a nice bathroom and beds were fine for sleeping. The breakfast buffet for R230 per person is not worth it, and as previous reviewer have stated, the eating area is very tight and limited. The best thing about this property was the staff were generally friendly and helpful.I would recommend the Protea Mowbry or Protea Durbinville as better overall Protea choices. I stayed at both of these other hotels during this trip and both are within a short Uber ride to the Capetown Airport if needed. Both had much better dining facilities and food. Both we more quiet for sleeping!
