Location

Located directly on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront within 5 km of the town centre, this historical conference hotel lies at the heart of the tourist centre of Cape Town. Links to the public transport network are to be found in the near vicinity and guests may pay a visit to the countless shopping venues as well as various bars and restaurants that lie just 1 km away. The sea and the beach are 5 km from the hotel and Cape Town airport is 30 min drive away, lying 25 km from the hotel.

Facility

79 junior suites, 8 suites, 45 apartments, 6 single rooms and 51 double rooms are available to guests in a 3-storey main building and 2 auxiliary buildings. English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. A baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and drinks machine are available. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday.     Too Far From Waterfront

    The hotel is in three buildings in a business university and is not near in the waterfront. This building is in a converted old citadel prison. Part of the complex is Hotel and part is university which doesn’t lend itself to a nice hotel vibe. Also, my complaint is I was in building two and there was no hot water. I called twice and the solution was to let the water run for 20 to 25 minutes. I still did not have hot water. Supposedly hotels are eco-friendly and don’t want to wash your towels yet it’s OK to let water run for 25 minutes.Next time I would look for something on the waterfront

    Had most contact time with Nolubabalo and Jerram. Nolubabalo is pleasant, well mannered, cheerful, patient, helpful, respectful, and provided useful local intelligence on what matters most for tourists. Jerram is highly conversant in various subjects including ethnic composition in SA, life experiences, tourist sites, overseas travels. He came across as well experienced and intelligent man. Jerram seems to be over qualified for his current role in the hotel and should be considered for bigger roles in hotel, if that is what he wants. I am impressed by how knowledgeable and well spoken he is. Jerram is a pride to South Africa. Security officers Bulelwa and Matanzima outserved by engaging me and showing me how to keep safe in CT. Enjoyed hearing about their work and lives. Others whom contributed positively to my stay include Euwan and Themba. Comfortable room, short walk from V&A waterfront with safe passage through hotel and university grounds. Visible presence of private security guards.

    Perfect location, close to the Waterfront, but still away from the crowds.Really nice building and rooms, staff very friendly.

    Staff were really nice, but the rooms were very small. We booked a two bedroom and you could barely walk in and put your luggage anywhere. You couldn’t walk into the washroom comfortably because it was so tiny. The shower stall is in a separate room from the toilet, which is fine however, it does not have a curtain or any way for the water not to fall on the floor.

    The location is excellent, just a short walk from the Waterfront. It’s a fascinating property with rooms spread across several buildings of a former prison. Despite its history, the rooms were extremely clean and very quiet, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The breakfast was outstanding, featuring specialty coffees and an omelet station where you could customize your order. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something a bit different. Would definitely stay here again!
