Location

This charming hotel offers guests a wonderful view of the lagoon and is around 10 m away from Knysna Quays beach. The nearest nightclub lies some 1 km from the hotel and George airport is around 60 km from the hotel.

Facility

Guests have a choice of 123 double rooms located in a 2-storey main building and a 3-storey auxiliary building. English-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day. Services such as a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine ensure a comfortable stay. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The hotel offers a number of facilities for guests with disabilities. A lift and wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. A fireplace creates a cosy atmosphere. There are a number of shops as well. Guests of the hotel can enjoy various recreational facilities, including the garden, during their stay. Additional facilities include a TV room. Rooms

Rooms are equipped with air conditioning and individually adjustable heating. Most units have a sea view. All rooms are carpeted and have a double bed, a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Separate bedrooms are available. Extra beds can be requested. A safe provides secure storage for guests' personal property. Additional features include a refrigerator, a mini fridge and a tea/coffee station. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience.     Missed Expectations in a Promising Location

    Our stay at Protea Hotel by Marriott Knysna Quays it is unfortunately not the best experience.The room was fairly spacious and clean, which we appreciated. However, it definitely needs some refreshing and updating, as parts of it feel worn and outdated. For example, when I pulled the curtain aside, I realized it could not be properly closed again, which was quite inconvenient.My friend specifically requested a room with a sea view, but we were told the hotel was fully booked. As a result, we were given a room overlooking the parking area and part of the hotel lobby, which was disappointing.Overall, the experience was not very satisfying.     Very busy over the weekend with coach travellers. Not for us.

    Not up to the standard of the previous Protea hotels we’ve stayed in. First of all neither sink or bath had a plug so I asked Reception for one. You’d have thought I’d asked for a stripper to be sent to the room the reaction I got! Eventually we were given a plug but the hot water came out of the taps so brown we didn’t fancy washing in it. Our room had a pool/lagoon view which was pleasant and surprisingly quiet. Any other view would have been grim. We had to move the furniture around to make room for the suitcases etc. We stayed over a weekend and there were a lot of coach tourists so breakfast was a bit of a scrum and rather like a works canteen. We wouldn’t stay there again.     Lovely hotel in a great location

    Lovely hotel. Very welcoming and clean and modern.Nice pool area with plenty of sunbeds.5 minutes walk to the Quay area where there are several restaurants and cafés and shops.Were recommended by our Tour Guide not to walk in the other direction as not safe to do so!Enjoyed our brief stay here.     Nothing Special About This Hotel 🏨

    Not what I have expected. Still the same like the past few years. Lift stopped working on the 30th Dec.25. Had to use stairs to go up and down. Hotel TV room still an old analog TV with poor TV quality in 2026 when we are watching 4K TV. Room towels very old and hard which is very disappointing for a 4 Star establishment. No Lounge,Dinner or finger luch is served at the hotel except Breakfast. Hotel refurbishment is only done during peak festive season. Poor planning 😢. Nothing was planned for New Year's Eve, it was just business as usual.     Overly crowded due to too many travel groups. Busy pool, exhausted staff, flooded breakfast counter. Too many rooms are facing parking lot - be ware of your room type before you book. Never let your travel agency to give you vague room type before, you might end up staying at waterfront hotel in a parking lot view room for entire stay like us.
