    Luxurious room, lovely staff

    rating28 Mar 2026

Luxurious and well-appointed accommodation in a small guest house (with just five rooms). Very friendly and welcoming, staff were lovely. Delightful secluded garden with swimming pool. Very good breakfast, with continental offering and cooked dishes made to order. We think this was the nicest place we stayed in the two weeks we have been in South Africa! Highly recommended.

    Lovely stay!

I loved my stay so much. The accommodation was beautiful and very clean. The room was spacious and had a lovely patio. The pool area was fantastic and spotless — I saw the staff cleaning and taking care of it every day.Breakfast was a very nice addition, and the staff were incredibly attentive. The best part was that the accommodation is located in a very quiet area, yet still so close to the main street. The Wine Tram station was literally just a 6-minute walk away.I truly loved my stay and would happily return!

A great stay in a wonderful Franschhoek b&b

    rating13 Feb 2026

Residence Vive la Vie is located in an excellent safe residential neighbourhood in Franschhoek, within walking distance of the town. There is secure parking at the front. Peter Weideman and his team are very friendly and helpful and even offer a by return laundry service at a reasonable price. We stayed in Superior King Suite 3, the suite nearest to the parking area and it’s very quiet inside and out. It’s a lovely big en-suite room with a comfortable extra wide bed and quality bed linen. Having a seating area with two armchairs away from the bed was a bonus, plus our own terrace. The complimentary bottle of wine was much appreciated. Cleanliness was an excellent feature throughout the whole of Residence Vie la Vie. Having a pool was important to us and the pool man kept it very clean. There were very comfortable sun loungers with side tables, parasols and a roofed area for shade.Breakfasts were excellent, beautifully presented and served by lovely staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely stay at the property when we hopefully return another year.

    We won't return

    rating01 Jan 2026

The property is beautiful with immaculate decor and cleanliness. Entry is unusual through front, back and sides plus 3 outside gates; getting luggage to your room is tricky and there's no help. Breakfast is delicious and efficient but there are no onsite facilities; nowhere to order a drink, coffee, snack etc. The site is unmanned 6pm - 8am with an ominous sign on one entrance door saying guests stay at their own risk. Only GBP2 and 3 minutes to reach the charming town centre by Uber. The guesthouse manager, Peter Weideman, is unhinged and boomed threats and undisguised aggression when dealing with a late check-out, spoiling my last morning in SA. He seems (medically?) unfit to service his role.
