  Great base to relax and explore

  Greeted by Naomi's wonderful smile, we immediately felt right at home, and ended up spending 3 nights here, instead of 1 as planned! Breakfast is great ~ a buffet, hot options, and you can sit outside on the terrace. (note fancy coffees are extra)Good base for exploring Stellenbosch and about $10 ride into the city for eating and shopping. Beautiful pool and gardens for relaxing, a fridge in the room, 24 hour "honesty bar" & a fireplace to keep cozy as needed!Appreciated their refillable soaps and lotions and we could drink the tap water so no need for plastic bottles! There was a power cut due to vandalism on a nearby property, and they kept us informed, plugged in the emergency light/charger for us and ran the generator to keep the restaurant going.Thank you Ben, Nettie and Naomi for a wonderful experience. It is always great to hear when guests decide to stay longer than planned and feel at home. It was very unfortunate that electricity cables somewhere in the area were cut and stolen which caused a power outage for a couple of days. We do have a back-up solar and battery system but that unfortunately doesn't last throughout the night and the weather during the day was njot very favourable for the solar panels to charge the batteries full again. We did manage to use a back-up generator to run the kitchen, restaurant and office however. Thank you though for your understanding and appreciation of our staff giving you the feedback and information regarding this unfortunate situation.I am glad you mention that you can indeed drink our tab water as it safe to drink. We do also provide and sell bottled water in case people prefer that. Thanks for also noticing the refillable soaps and lotions in the bathrooms which are part of our sustainability program.We hope to see you back at WedgeView on your next trip to Stellenbosch and South Africa.   Absolutely amazing time at Wedgeview and the best way to end our amazing time in South Africa.David and the team were brilliant and level of service was outstanding. Great views, lovely garden and stunning pool.   Do not expect 5 stars . Honest Customer feedback not welcome

  The guesthouse is very well located and has a lot of potential . However it does not live up to the 5*star rating . Room worn out with wall paint peeling off , shutters that do not darken room at night , Washbasin clogged and took till next day and 3 request to repair . Housekeeping did not show up one day , Food tasteless . Pool and outdoor furniture stained , dirty and old. etc...Worst however is that the owners give the opportunity for written feedback . After filling the feedback form I received a e-mail from Dave basically telling me that my feedback is wrong . All other customers are happy , I am the only one who's not .... In a nutshell the customer is the problem . You did indeed fill in our feedback form with some comments which we really appreciate. I then send you an email querying certain comments and asking you for more detailed information to get a better understanding, so that we can maybe learn from it.I would just like to add some things from our side to put things in a better perspective.From the moment you arrived you have been looking for things as you weren't happy with the room you had booked as it didn't have a nice view. You had personally booked the Courtyard Suite, which has a lovely courtyard to sit outside. We don't claim or say that there is a view from that specific room though. You came to the reception and complained about your room and we explained we were fully booked and unfortunately couldn't move you to another room with a nice view, which we would have done if possible. You didn't like the fact that we couldn't assist. From then on it seems you decided to look for things to make us look bad, which is a real pity. You filled in the form and left it in the room for us to find. If you had some many things you were unhappy about, you could have come to us and discuss this during your stay.WedgeView is situated on an approx. 1 ha property with large gardens, several terraces, including our large terrace where Breakfast is served, a Lapa, 2 pools, etc. There are many lovely spots to sit and relax enjoy the stunning views around us which you could have enjoyed.I did indeed apologize for the fact that housekeeping hadn't been to your room, which was an honest mistake, but the moment you had reported this, one of our staff still came to do your room.I did query the fact that you claim that paint was peeling of in the room and explained to you that you should close the shutters upwards and not downwards as it is darker that way. We did apologize to you for the clogged basin but wee did attend to it and solved the problem. The other guests who had the same food the evening you had dinner with us, really enjoyed the food, but taste is obviously subjective.I am sure that you were able to find a mark/stain on our outdoor furniture cushions, but we do wash these on a regular basis. I am not sure what you would mean by our pool and outdoor furniture is stained, dirty and old. Our pool was completely redone last year and is cleaned every morning.I find it very sad and unnecessary for you to put this on Tripadvisor qnd make us look bad, but as said to you in my email, we'll take the feedback and strive to be better. We have learnt over the 20 years that we have been in the industry, that a mistake can be made, but we always try to solve it. We do realize that we can't make every guest happy and unfortunately you were one of those guests. We are glad that the large majority of our guests are very happy with their experience at WedgeView.Sincerely, Dave & The WedgeView Team

  We stayed here for 2 nights while in wine country. Wedgeview helped us book a private wine tour. As well as, has on site spa treatments. We had a peaceful quiet atmosphere.
