    Amazing Stay

    rating31 May 2026

Had a great, albeit too short stay. We were accommodated in the Villa, which was excellent. The honour bar system is great and very convenient. The welcome and introduction by the Manager Melanie was excellent and super informative.

    Just perfect. Lovely stay!

    rating09 Apr 2026

At first I was unsure about the location being a bit “out of town”. But then realised this is exactly part of the charm. It is easy and quick (less than 5 min) to be part of the town’s hustle and bustle. But then just as easy to come back here and be immersed in a well kept, beautiful tranquil environment. Best of both worlds!I felt at home from the word go. Great reception. Wonderful breqkfast every morning ( great variety to not grow tired if you there a few days). When I had small mishap in my room, I was immediately offered another room. In the very luxurious villa. Wow. Felt so spoiled!Really enjoyed my stay here on my quest for a few days of recharging. Would love to return and could see why it has been rewarded four stars! Though I suspect Melanie is one of these four stars. What a manager, so attentive and warm. Knowledge on the area helps her in setting everyone up for a great time. Thanks for organising the kayaking for me. My only suggestion would be to replace the Nescafe coffee sachets with small little filter coffee set ups. Just a ration per day- to satisfy us coffee snobs, haha😉Sure a four star establishment can do that. Thanks again. Loved it here!

A comfortable place to stay near the harbour.

    rating23 Nov 2025

A little outside the main central area of Hermanus, close to the new harbour. A quiet lodge to stay in relative comfort and on the edge of the cliff path. We had a cosy room with access via the patio doors to our own outside bistro set, the garden and the pool and breakfast room. The room was very spacious and the bathroom well equipped with shower and bath and two sinks. Breakfast was plentiful but not as good quality as other places we stayed, with not as much choice, but still ok. The pool area was nice with relaxing loungers and towels provided. it was a 5 min walk to catch our early boat in the harbour which was great. We had to take a taxi into town for dinner as it's a 40 min walk along the cliff path and not safe at night.

    Gorgeous, cosy hotel!

    rating19 Jul 2025

What a beautiful and cosy boutique hotel! We stayed here with our two teenagers and had a lovely time. The house and the rooms are beautiful, very well designed and decorated and spotless clean. The breakfast was delicious and the hosts and staff were all very kind and attentive. We were here in the winter and the pool looks so inviting, we would love to come back in the summer and stay longer.

Wonderful Lodge on the Outskirts of Hermanus

    rating10 Jun 2025

The Whale Rock Luxury Lodge was one of the best hotels during 3 weeks of vacation in the Cape area. It comprises the reet-covered main building with reception area, office, lounge with honesty bar, library and various rooms and the separate "Villa" with additional rooms. There is two pools in a well-kept garden and breakfast is served on the pool terrace or in an adjacent annex. The garden is full of trees and plants and the bougainvillea was in full bloom when we arrived. There is even a small pond with kois. Any of the ground floor rooms has an own "patio" where you can sit and relax... Our ground floor Executive Suite (No. 1) was huge - a bright room with several windows and with beach house decor in grey, beige and white. A spacious seating corner, a king bed with firm mattress, blackout curtains, lots of built-in wardrobes with white lamella doors, an extra room with coffee maker, fridge etc. and the bathroom with two basins, bathtub, walk-in shower and toilet...Only a few steps across the meadow was the breakfast room where the lovely kitchen staff prepared a nice buffet every morning supplemented to your order by eggs any style, French toast etc.The Lodge is located on the outskirts of Hermanus close to the township of Zwelihle. Maybe not a preferential neighbourhood as it may remind you of your privileged position in society but no need to feel worried about your safety!  If you want to leave your car on the lodge premises the center of Hermanus can also be reached after a 30 minute walk along the beautiful cliff path that starts just 200 m from the lodge entrance. The departure point of whale watching boat tours (in season) is practically around the corner in what is called the "New Haven". We also found two restaurants there, the rustic "Quayside Cabin" and the elegant "The Rock", both recommendable in their own way.We enjoyed our stay so much that we spent another two nights there on our way back to Cape Town...
