    Arrived at 6:30a and said, even though you are Marriott Gold, and even though your room is ready, and even though you will check out the same time day of departure, we will charge you an extra day to check in early. Ugh. I hate this policy. It costs them nothing to let me in.The concierge downstairs, starts at 7a, and only seemed to work with one tour company. Not sure if they are employees of Marriott or a tour provider. Said they couldn’t help me book a tour for that day. I hopped on Viator and booked it myself.The upgraded room I paid for (again, no upgrade despite rooms being available) was facing another building. They claimed it was an upgrade since it would be quiet.Fancy toilet, so fancy I didn’t know how to use all of the settings!Nice shower with rainfall or handheld water.If you wanted to watch your partner shower up could open the blinds. Hmm, interesting feature.Minibar had filtered water option for your water bottle. No plastic bottles here.TV was nice and could cast from your device. Plenty of settings and controls for the lights in the room, a nice touch.Fitness center was decent size / about 5 treadmills, a stairmaster, free weights and some machines. Also water and towels.The laundry had 2 washers and 2 dryers. Washer dispenses soap automatically, and you can use a credit card to pay for it. The dryers were full so I had to take my clothes to my room to dry - seemed better than waiting 40 minutes for both dryers to finish. Bad luck on timing, but located just a couple of doors away from the gym, so convenient to multi-task,Last example of poor service / days ahead of arrival I asked about airport service advertised on their website. Today, two days after arriving, I finally get a reply! Two days too late and the information on the website was outdated as well.

    이번 한국 방문의 목적은 은퇴후 내게 주는 선물과 같은 혼자만의 모국 방문 여행이었습니다. 사실 개인적인 사정으로 본의 아니게 호텔을 옮겨야 했었고 위치가 좋아서 선택했던 코트야드 메리어트 명동호텔은 시내의 많은 곳들을 도보로 충분히 방문이 가능한 사통팔달의 위치로 대중교통 또한 시청역과 같은 지하철과 많은 버스노선이 있습니다 남대문과 시청 주변 맛집들,백화점도 걸어갈 수 있는 완벽한 위치입니다.체크인은 원활하고 매우 신속하게 이루어졌고 프론트 직원의 세심하고도 친절한 응대가 편안함으로 다가왔습니다. 호텔방은 화려하진 않지만 매우 청결하였으며 잘 관리되어 있어서 만족하였습니다 정수기 설치가 되어 있어서 좋았습니다. 냉장고에는 비치되어 있는 음료가 없었는데 이 점이 오히려 제겐 만족스러웠습니다 제가 근처 편의점에서 구매한 먹거리를 채워 놓을 수 있었고 미국으로 챙겨갈 것들을 넣어둘 수 있어서 좋았습니다. 첫날 저녁엔 룸서비스를 주문 하였는데 메리어트의 룸 서비스는 5성급호텔에 결코 뒤지지 않는 맛과 매우 합리적인 가격입니다. 아침 조식은 2층의 라운지에서 이루어지는데 특히 이 곳은 조식시간이 지나면 외부에서 방문한 친지들을 만나기에 더없이 편안한 장소였어요. 아침 조식은 그 구성과 깔끔함,직원분들의 보이지 않는 세심한 서비스에 아침 조식시간이 기다려질 정도였어요. 모든 직원분들은 기대 이상으로 친절하고,특히 프런트에 계신 Rosie씨 아침조식 식당의 Daniel씨 ,해외에 거주하여 개인 전화번호인증이 없던 제게 택시도 불러주시고 많은 도움주신 Elly씨 이외에도 이름을 기억하지 못하지만 수많은 직원분들의 친절에 감사합니다. 다음번 한국 여행때 꼭 다시 방문하고픈 호텔입니다.The purpose of this trip to Korea was a gift to myself after retirement. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to change hotels sooner than planned, and I chose the Courtyard Marriott Myeongdong because of its excellent location.The hotel is situated in a highly convenient, walkable area, with City Hall Station and numerous bus routes nearby. Namdaemun Market, popular restaurants, and department stores are all within walking distance.Check-in was smooth and very efficient, and the friendly service provided by the front desk staff immediately made me feel comfortable and welcome. It was truly a breath of relief, especially since I was not feeling my best and was dealing with serious jet lag.The guest room is not particularly fancy by any means, but it was very clean and well maintained. There were no beverages stocked in the refrigerator, which was actually a plus for me, as it gave me plenty of room for the snacks and drinks I purchased during my stay, as well as items I planned to take home with me.Breakfast was served in the lounge on the second floor. The breakfast buffet was well-prepared, clean, and delicious, and the service provided by the staff made it something I looked forward to every morning.All of the hotels' staff were kinder and more helpful than I could have expected. I would especially like to thank Rosie at the front desk, Daniel at the breakfast buffet, and Elly, who was incredibly helpful in arranging taxis for me and assisting me when I was unable to make arrangements myself because my phone wasn't working.I would like to sincerely thank all of them, and I look forward to my next stay here. See you soon!

    Lovely Hotel

    It was our first time in seoul and we are so glas we chose this hotel. Check in was a breeze, staffs are excellent, breakfast spread was good and the room was clean and so comfortable. We stayed from 28th May to 4th June 2026. Its just minutes walk to City Hall station and to the vibrant Myeongdong Street and just facing Namdaemun market. The Airport bus stop is just few steps away and 5mins ride to Seoul Station. Thank you for making our stay feels like home. We will definitely be back.

    The Courtyard Seoul Myeongdong is a solid modern hotel located midway between the City Hall and Hoehyeon subway stations, which is to say not ideally close to either; however, the Airport Limousine stops nearby. Upon checking in, we were advised that our Bonvoy status qualified us for a room with a view of Sungnyemun gate, but with risk of street noise; we instead opted for a room on the back of the building which had no view but was blissfully silent. Our room was spacious and attractive, comfortable, and with ample storage and electronic connections. Pluses included a well equipped fitness center and a guest laundry available for modest charge; however, the latter seemed busy when we wanted to use it. The concierge was extremely helpful on two occasions; unfortunately, her advice on a third occasion about the time needed to travel to the Express Bus Terminal was completely wrong, resulting in an expensive inconvenience. Trust but verify!Our rate included the breakfast buffet which was outstanding, featuring both standard western options as well as an extensive rotating selection of intriguing and tasty Asian selections. The breakfast was well staffed; service was professional. We especially appreciated the chefs at the omelet station who reliably made perfect omelets in minutes.The Courtyard was our first hotel during our three week trip to Korea. It was also without question our best hotel. Despite the absence of close proximity to a subway station, we’d clearly consider staying at the Courtyard were we to return to Seoul again.

    Worst Experience In South Korea

    When you think about Marriott as a brand, you are made to think about their services as the brand itself is being in market since my grandparents era. We stayed here for 12 nights. With everything in mind, we booked this hotel since we were travelling with a baby. Before confirming our booking, we made numerous communications with the hotel to ensure what we will be booking what we needed. We paid whatever their suggestions included without any additional questions or requests. We wanted a relaxing and secured environment. Upon arrival, they got us a room not aligned with what we booked but it was somewhat ok. We were extremely tired and decided to stay in our designated room since it was nice enough. As night approached, we realised the neighbouring building is occupied and perhaps people were inside looking into our room. It’s a room with a view of Namsan Tower and keeping our blinds down won’t make the room as advertised. It won’t make difference if there was a wall there instead of a window. It was obvious that if we want to keep our privacy, we will have to keep the blinds closed at all times! Keep that in mind we have a baby. so we had to request a upper floor that will exceed that building which will be only 1 or 2 storey up. They said it was all booked out and that they will let us know if anything comes up. Around 1 in the morning, my wife noticed someone inside. It was not right! We felt that After all those communication and confirmations, they gave us a room which didn’t match what we confirmed. And even though we were being understanding, they simply neglected our requirements! There was no way, they didn’t know that neighbouring issue! We then realised that why the frontdesk girl kept saying that the room is next to a road! She said that multiple times and we thought it was odd but then it made sense afterwards! We sent them an email forwarding our previous conversations at 3 in the morning! Everyone was up after my wife spotted whoever that was! Blinder on and off. At one point we felt someone was trying to open our door and after trying twice they giggled and moved on. Anyway, To our surprise, 5 in the morning, there was a room became available from 3rd dimension but they mentioned, the room we have a confirmation about and already paid 2 months ago is now a little extra. But since this is an inconvenience for us, they will just give that room to us (!) because they are just so understanding!! We had no idea, Marriott, now is doing so bad in business that they have to start Scamming people to stay in the business! We went ahead and pulled out further of our conversations with pictures attached and sent to them the confirmation THEY have sent to us prior to us booking. We then confirmed the booking following that conversation 2 months before we actually check in!!!! We have spoken to them about 3-4 times about the room and not once they mentioned anything about extra payment. We even asked any extra payment associated to be clarified and they confirmed! But if they did, we would’ve paid since we paid for an extra night we didn’t even stay because we had a late flight and Marriott couldn’t allow us 6-8 hours extra hours in exchange of hourly rate. Now we moved to the new room day after, which had a rather saucy issue. We realised the next door was having super loud intercourse all through the evening and around midnight the noise woke us up. It sounded like they were trying to take the wall down. Next morning we had to ask the front desk and front desk said, it was out of their control and they can arrange a different room if it bothered us so much! What the actual F? They also added, the room nextdoor will be leaving tomorrow. Please be understanding. How ridiculous is that their expectation is that we will be spending our holiday moving around different rooms listening to people having sex as per their suitability!!! The walls are thin as paper. Next day, the noise came from another room. 12 days, on our way out to the elevator, we heard noise from atleast 4 different rooms. At one point, we realised, perhaps, MARRIOTT is running a business of some sort and that front desk is aware of their management’s little extra income. Perhaps thats how the room became available 5am in the morning although at 10pm, as in 7 hours ago every room was fully booked out. You do the math. We bought breakfast over there, and they kept fixating for us to have breakfast before 6:30/ 7 because they have 500 guests etc! Requested us to be understanding that their hotel doesn’t have the capacity to host 500 guests for breakfast but they still went ahead and booked everyone in. And so as a guest you will need to be understanding about their incapacity and outrageous disregard. They mentioned this Not just once, 3 times. One of the managers came to discuss the breakfast timing IN our room. Now, we stayed here 12 Nights. NOT ONCE we saw a line up for breakfast. It was all empty. One day, we were having a restful day and decided to spend longer time for breakfast. All through to 10 and to our surprise! E M P T Y!!!! Breakfast is not thrilling either. Same menu every day. Room doesn’t get cleaned. My baby had an accidental pee on the floor which we wiped with napkins but needed a sanitising mop and we requested for the floor to be wiped! For 4 days they made-up our room without cleaning the floor. AWEFUL HOTEL EVER. DO NOT STAY IN THIS DODGY HOTEL SPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A CHILD. Hotel staffs are aweful. The cleaning lady let themselves without knocking and without us asking for it. We were in the room and they burged in all clueless. Then someone from the back said, oh room service! And this is not cultural. We stayed in Busan for about 2 weeks it wasn’t anything like this. So we can say this for sure that the staffs have an aweful attitude, they are judgemental and behaved rudely. We are frequent travellers and not very often we have this sort of negligent and reckless and simply dangerous experience. It sometimes is a little bad or really exceptional etc. but almost never this. I wouldn’t be surprised if tomorrow a news pops up about their management running a savoury business in the hotel etc. we were scared about our security to be honest and carried our valuables with us at all times. We didn’t feel safe. The air conditioning broke on 8th day and turned the room into a sauna. It was a very very very expensive MOTEL. AWEFUL AWEFUL AWEFUL. We felt violated of our privacy, we felt scared, it was dirty, smelly, unfriendly, disrespectful, rude, scammers and we can go on. They don’t deserve the STARS they advertise. Spend your money in a different hotel.
