    Great for families; good value for size and excellent location

    We are a family of five (two adults, one child, and two infants) that stayed in the two-bedroom/two-bathroom suite for 16 nights. The hotel is very well situated with convenient walking distance to Yongsan and Sinyongsan Stations. We were able to get to nearby attractions such as Hongdae and Myeongdong in four subway stops. The hotel also offers free parking, which was great for us since we also had a rental car for the duration of our stay. Views from the upper floors are excellent. Our suite was on the 29th floor and we had panoramic views of Yongsan, Han River, and Yeouido. While the Grand Mercure lobby is smaller than the neighboring Ibis Style, it still felt grand with its high ceilings. It was also very welcoming, due mainly to the hospitable staff. We walked in with three crying children that were jet lagged and sleep deprived after our 13 hour flight to Seoul. Despite the chaos, the staff remained calm and were quick to help. Special shoutout to Vlad M. at the concierge counter. He was the first staff member to greet us and help get us situated. He had a great attitude and helped us transport all of our luggage from our car to our room. He was also our final touch point at the hotel as he helped transport all of our luggage to the car prior to our departure. Great experience from arrival to departure. He is a standout young gentleman with a good work ethic and service-minded attitude. I hope management recognizes him for his exceptional service.The two-bedroom suite was well appointed with a full set of kitchen appliances (refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, oven), washer/dryer, as well as cookware, plates, and utensils. This made it especially convenient for when we wanted to prepare a meal in the room. Maid service was quick and reliable with it usually completed by the time we returned to our room after the day. We have two infants and the hotel was able to provide two cribs for a fee. This was a huge help. They were also able to accommodate our humidifier and air purifier requests.The hotel has excellent dining options as well as room service options. We opted for daily breakfast at the hotel in the Executive Lounge. It had a full array of Western and Korean dining options. We enjoyed it for the duration of the stay. What made it even more enjoyable was being greeted by Ally (Allie) L. at the entrance almost every single day at 6:30AM-7:00AM. She had the warmest smile and was very hospitable despite it being very early in the day. She was quick to adjust the table to make room for our twin stroller so that our family could eat comfortably. She always wished us a great day as we left to start our day. She became a part of our daily routine and we would notice when she was not there on her days off. On our final day, we had to take a photograph with her and she even gifted our son a Drako doll (the mascot of Seoul Dragon City that my son had been asking me for since the start of our trip). She greatly improved our stay at Grand Mercure and I hope the management recognizes her for her exceptional service.Pricing was reasonable relative to competing properties in Seoul and the size of the room (~1,200 SF). We opted for the flexible rate but it would have been more affordable had we done the advance pay rate.We plan to return on our next visit to Seoul.     Lack of management attention to serious room issues

    While the location is convenient both if you are driving or want to use public transport and although all staff are super friendly and polite, then this hotel has some serious system issues in the room. We were woken up at 4am with all light suddenly coming on without it being possible to turn off. Additionally, all aircons suddenly send only very hot air into the room with the degrees going from 24 to above 30 degrees in 30 minutes, again without any possibility to stop the hot air. Despite technicians working on it for more than an hour, nothing could be done and in the end we had to change room at 6am. Not a single approach from management apologising. No offer of compensation. Complete ignorance despite the nice "Ashley" promising to discuss with management. Very disappointing, and as we in fact learned from staff that this happens often, then I would not recommend this hotel to others. And by the way, noisy construction outside during the day starting early morning.
