    Not customer friendly

    rating24 May 2026

I arrived in Seoul at 1am and reached the hotel around 2 am.The booking was made for 3 nights, starting from today, but the check-in was only allowed from 3 pm onwards.I explained that I need to start my online meetings from 8.45 am onwards the same day.The young man at the reception was trying to find a solution but he couldn't do anything without his manager. I finally asked to see the manager. She came and offered me a room for an additional $185. Basically to spend the half of the night until 11 am (the checkout is at 11 am). I find the service horrible. They could have allowed me an "early check in" with an additional surcharge for the upgrade of the room. Or try to to find a customer friendly solution.I wouldn't recommend this hotel as there are plenty other around. I have already traveled many times to Seoul and I always have been happy with the service. Absolutely not this time !

Perfect hotel for business and leisure

    rating13 Feb 2026

We had an excellent stay at the Lotte City Hotel. We highly recommend this hotel for business and leisure travel, as it offers great accommodations and convenience at a reasonable price. The location is excellent, right next to Gongdeok Station, which is on the airport rail and 3 subway lines. Major tourist and shopping attractions are easily reachable within 15-20 minutes on the subway. The area around the hotel has many restaurants and cafes, and there is a supermarket in the basement of the hotel. The hotel has a very nice indoor swimming pool, and it was free if you reserve your room through Lotte's official website. We stayed in a double suite, which was very spacious, well equipped, and well maintained. It has an expresso machine, which was a nice touch. Housekeeping was very good--our room was cleaned promptly and thoroughly. The room rate was very reasonable. It is hard to find another hotel in Seoul that offers better value for the quality of the room and good location. The room had plenty of closet and storage space and a big desk where one can work on a computer comfortably. Staff is professional and courteous.

Functional but tired - and the pool costs extra!

    rating16 Jun 2025

I stayed at this hotel for one night before my return home, after spending a week staying in Myeong-Dong and travelling outside the city. Main reason for this was its location immediately above a station on the airport train line, which is a definite plus. However I would not rate this hotel highly for an extended tourist stay. There is not much of interest to tourists in the immediate vicinity (this is basically a business district); and whilst Gongdeok subway station does offer quick transport elsewhere, you can find better locations with more diverse food and attraction offerings than here. The hotel itself seems a bit dated and tired with outmoded fittings in the rooms that are showing their age, such as hopelessly cracked and crazed perspex. The bathroom in my room featured an excellent full-length window view out to a busy intersection - but you might want to keep the blind down as there is no other privacy protection. The floor design is somewhat labyrinthine and my room was in a wing some distance from the main lift cluster, leaving me to use a secondary lift area that was very slow.A potentially significant issue - while the hotel has a magnificent indoor pool, guests are charged an extra KRW20,000 to use it - which is probably why it was empty when I looked. This was not a major issue for me for one night but would have been a major irritation had I been staying here longer.

More a room rental service than a hotel

    rating24 Apr 2025

I stayed for a week, and while the accommodation itself was adequate, the place functions more like a room rental than a hotel. The level of service typically associated with a hotel was largely absent, despite charging hotel rates! For instance, when inquiring about tours to the DMV area (referring to brochures available in the lobby), the staff, including those at the concierge desk, were not aware of the tours. There also appeared to be a significant language barrier, underscoring that hospitality is not a strength of the organisation. When I asked about booking a tour, I was directed to self-service kiosks rather than receiving assistance.Another frustrating experience occurred at the pool. Upon attempting to view the pool, I was told we needed a coupon, which had not been mentioned or provided to us previously. This lack of clear communication and service was disappointing.

Very helpful staff on reception with directions. Pool looked very inviting and rooms were extremely comfortable.

Excellent hotel. Great service and the reception staff were extremely helpful in advising me to get around Seoul. They used the Korean version of Google Maps - which doesn't work there - to advise directions etc. The pool looked very inviting and a gym was available as well
