A great place to stay at the end of the Camino

    rating04 Jun 2026

Enjoyed my one night in this lovely building near to the Cathedral. It is a very beautuful historic building that has been refurbished in keeping with its history. I had a small double for solo use and had a lovely view over the gardens from the desk. The bed was comfortable with quality linen and the shower although small was very nice and spotless clean. There is a lift and each floor has a communal seating area. There is also a nice bar. The only not so good was the very noisy, busy cramped breakfast room, too small for the amount of guests. Staff were very pleasant and there is luggage storage. A lovely last night to rest and recover at the end of a very challenging walk in very hot temperatures. atencion al cliente y, Marketing at Hospederia San Martin Pinario, responded to this review Muchísimas gracias por su comentario tan positivo.

    Not really as expected

    rating03 May 2026

Not sure where to start. This was our last stop before going home after the Camino. I think my expectations were too high as I as hoping to rest. Old convent, halls are very long to walk, rooms are so small that we were not able to open both our suitcases at the same time, shower is tiny (if you are over 150 lb, you might need to leave the door open to shower). I don’t understand why some european hotels have one long pillow for double beds… ??. (Guess it’s not my problem) Bed super uncomfortable and if you breathe it will make a noise. Walls are very thin we could hear our neighbors coughing and blowing their noises. And the best…… banging doors all the time. Of course you cannot sleep in…. as suitcases start to roll very early and walls are not soundproof. I don’t want to talk about the food and the attention of the waiters, it will make the review very depressing. To end with a good note, it looks good from the outside, the architecture is marvelous and it is less than 1 minute walk from the church of Santiago. atencion al cliente y, Marketing at Hospederia San Martin Pinario, responded to this review Sentimos mucho no haber cumplido sus expectativas. Sentimos mucho que su experiencia no haya sido satisfactoria.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------We’re very sorry we didn’t meet your expectations. We don’t know if the hallways are too long, as that depends on each person. What we do know is that we strive to preserve the essence of the monastery—the second-largest religious building in Spain after San Lorenzo de El Escorial—and to do so, we are also required to comply with the urban planning regulations governing a 10th-century historic building designated as a Site of Cultural Interest and located within the historic center of Santiago de Compostela, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. which means that any construction work must follow a very strict protocol that prohibits the removal of walls—including partition walls—so we are required to maintain the current structure of both the rooms and the hallways, which, to date, no one has described as “too long.” We are very sorry that the noise from other guests’ suitcases caused you inconvenience, and above all, we are concerned about your negative experience in the restaurant, as we strive to provide exceptional service to all our guests and receive very few complaints in that regard. We are very sorry that your experience was not satisfactory.Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

Best Kept Secret of the Town

    rating02 May 2026

Book a solo room with pilgrim rate, which is only half of the rack rate (please email to request). The view from the window of tiny ex-monk room is the cathedral itself. In essence, this hotel is parador-for-the-poor, haha. Since I do not spend much time in the room, it is totally sufficient. Bathroom is very basic, there is not even a desk in the room, only a chair with the built in desk like the one in the university. But for the price, which also includes simple breakfast, I will book anytime I end my pilgrimage at this city of St James. Thank you management of SMP! they also will hold your bag until 4 pm should you need to check out your room before you leave the town.

    Convent not a hotel!

    rating26 Oct 2025

The property from outside looks impressive. The rooms are so horribly cold, the heaters do not get turned on, the double bed is a full size with a flat mattress, and one hard pillow that lays across the entire bed for two people. The front desk man was so rude and harsh, like we were there to bother him because we wanted to check in.The breakfast is included, but they start serving at 7 am, no exception. The dinner has a set menu with a price of 15 € per person. You can not ask for a soup only or share an appetizer. They make you buy the entire menu, for the soup, if you eat it or not, the hours for the restaurant are from 8 pm - 9:30 pm only. They bring one bottle of water and one bottle of wine.
