    Very close to Santiago’s cathedral, holds large rooms and great staff

    Right in the heart of old Santiago de compostela, has large rooms but a weird architecture; as if they had joined two buildings and converted as a hotel. One drawback is that to access some of the floors, you have to use the stairs and if you are a real pilgrim (walked more than the tourist average distance of 101km), you will have to carry you luggage without help!

    We had a wonderful experience at the Hotel Ala Avendida. Our rooms were on the top floor with a rich colored wooden slanted ceiling and a window we could open to the sky. The beds were comfy and the private bathroom was nice and clean. Breakfast was very tasty and the staff were courteous and helpful. We were able to walk to many of our destinations, including the Santiago Cathedral. I highly recommend.

    Final Stop on Camino Way

    Small hotel with quiet rooms which is just what we needed after completing five days of walking from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela. Excellent friendly staff.The hotel is ideally placed - just a few minutes walk through the historical centre to the Cathedral. Breakfast was continental style and good choices.Check out wasn't until 12 noon and we were allowed to leave our luggage until late afternoon in a secure area. This allowed us a few more hours in the city before leaving for the airport (about 20 minutes away by taxi).Our hotel was booked through our Camino tour operator at Santiago Ways.Would recommend.

    We had stayed here 5 years ago when we completed a different Camino route. The hotel is very well placed next to the central area of Santiago so you can access the Cathedral and shops by day. Or the tapas bars and restaurants in the evening. Comfortable and quiet. A great last stop before heading home.

    It’s a terrible place to stay. After walking the Camino staying in this ‘hotel’ spoils your entire experience. The room was dark, the ‘furniture’ old and nothing more than a chair to sit on. Don’t waste your money here unless you are on a very tight budget
