    Good location with upside potential

    rating20 Dec 2025

Stayed two nights in Santiago de Compostela and enjoyed the location of the hotel. Breakfast was ok and staff friendly & helpful. Rooms are currently being upgraded (major redecoration works were ongoing during visit) however still got one rather outdated one. Gym and pool unfortunately by far too small and even not fully operational - free parking definitely a plus.

    A step down

    rating20 Aug 2025

We spent two nights at the Palacio del Carmen, Autograph Collection, in Santiago de Compostela. It was the third time we stayed at this hotel, and in July 2017 we wrote a detailed review about it. Although we were given an upgrade, this stay was not as good as the previous ones. The hotel feels stuck in time and is beginning to show signs of needing renovation. At check-in, we received no explanation about the hotel. I booked 5 rooms, and none of the guests were given any information. Upon arriving at the room, there was no Santiago Cake, unlike on previous occasions. The minibar, which used to be complimentary, was not this time—or at least nothing was said to us about it. The pillows were not feather and were uncomfortable. There is still no turndown service, which does not match what one would expect from an Autograph Collection property. The restaurant also was not as pleasing as before. Therefore, this time the evaluation goes down a notch. Pablo Guitián, Director General at Hotel Palacio del Carmen, Autograph Collection, responded to this review Dear jorgeeantonio,Thank you very much for choosing to stay once again at Palacio del Carmen, Autograph Collection, and for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that this recent experience did not meet the high expectations set by your previous visits. We highly value the loyalty of our returning guests, and your observations are extremely important to us.Please rest assured that all your comments will be carefully reviewed and taken into consideration by our team as part of our ongoing efforts to improve both our facilities and the service we provide. We are fully committed to offering an experience that reflects the standards of the Autograph Collection brand. Our intention in offering you an upgrade to a Junior Suite with views of the cathedral was precisely to create a memorable and special stay for you and your group. We’re sorry to hear that the overall experience did not reflect that intention. We sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future, and to offer you a stay more in line with your expectations.Warm regards.Pablo GuitiánGeneral Manager

Pleasant quiet hotel need to walk up hill to centre. WiFi issues

    rating01 Jul 2025

Pleasant enough hotel in a quiet part of town. Nice room stayed here because we could park the car in our road trip so a plus Hotel is 15 minutes walk up a gentle hill to the town. Plus a few more steps to the cathedral. 25 min to non tourist shopping areas. No Uber here and notice in hotel about very long wait for taxis. But since we had already been walking a lot these were not issues for us but could be for others. We had a nice local meal in their restaurant Main issues were the long walk to the room from under a blazing sun, despite the shades on the roof. . It was rally oppressive. I could see tour companies block book rooms here so felt as independent travellers we were put in the furthest possible rooms away My iPad and iPhone couldn’t connect to wifi at all for two days. Front desk couldn’t help. Others having same issue. Worked perfectly elsewhere. And No prob with husbands laptop. I had set aside a day to get some important done so that was a real problem for me No proper coffee machine. Just one for espresso with two tiny paper cups. For such a hotel chain you would expect china like elsewhere. Pablo Guitián, Director General at Hotel Palacio del Carmen, Autograph Collection, responded to this review Dear ghle,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback following your recent stay at Palacio del Carmen, Autograph Collection. We’re pleased to hear you enjoyed the peaceful location, the local meal in our restaurant, and the convenience of parking during your road trip.We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the walk to your room under the sun. Due to our historic building layout and group bookings, some rooms are located further away, but we regret that this affected your comfort as independent travelers.Regarding the WiFi issues you experienced, we are very sorry for the disruption and understand how frustrating this must have been, especially when trying to complete important tasks. Thank you again for your valuable insights. We hope to welcome you back in the future and provide a more seamless and comfortable experience.Warm regards,Pablo GuitiánGeneral ManagerPalacio del Carmen, Autograph Collection

Beautiful property and rooms with phenomenal breakfast

    rating27 May 2025

This was definitely the culmination and reward after 35 days on the Camino de Santiago staying at various albergues and hotelsThe room was phenomenal with a large tub with enormous shutter windows overlooking the courtyard. Crisp cotton sheets are a big deal to me and in that area the large king size bed exceeded expectations. The room was the most spacious of the entire trip. The included breakfast buffet was five stars easily with a huge selection of pastries, hot and cold items coffees and juices. The bar area was a great place to sit and relax with a drink. The staff was phenomenal and even helped me with a car service to the airport. To note, it is not exceptionally close to the cathedral or city center — maybe a 10 minute walk? I didn’t mind being in a quiet area and actually appreciated it, but if you are expecting to walk out the door and be surrounded by restaurants, you’ll want to be closer to city center. (The cathedral was visible from my window.) Liked the Location

    rating25 May 2025

This is a good choice when staying in Santiago. It’s maybe a 10 minute walk to the Cathedral with a location in a quiet - non touristy - street. We used points for our stay and thought it was good value. Room was ok, the person upstairs could be heard walking about into the evening and early morning. Nice bar area, better than average breakfast. Helpful front office staff. I’d stay again. Pablo Guitián, Director General at Hotel Palacio del Carmen, Autograph Collection, responded to this review Dear pfefmeister,Thank you for choosing Palacio del Carmen, Autograph Collection, and for sharing your experience. We’re glad you appreciated our quiet location, the convenient walk to the cathedral, and the quality of our breakfast and bar area.
