The place to stay in Santiago

    rating05 Oct 2026

This is a must after your camino. It is the hotel that was built for pilgrims in 1499. It is historic, beautiful and the most iconic location right next to the cathedral. It was so luxurious sleeping in the same location for 3 nights in a row after sleeping in 33 different places in a row on the camino. The room was comfortable in every way: the sheets, the bed, the spacious bathroom, etc. A special shout out to Eva who is the breakfast hostess. She is perfectly professional, superbly friendly and tremendously hardworking. Not worth the money

    rating20 Sept 2026

From outside the hotel looks great… but after receiving a room in the cellar, I felt really disappointed. This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel? A room in the cellar?? Furthermore, a dirty sofa in the room, all the carpets in the room and in the corridor very dirty….was the housekeeping responsible on a long holiday? For sure, there a nicer hotels for a better price. Recepción Santiago, Owner at Parador de Santiago De Compostela, responded to this review Dear christiner,Thank you for sharing your comment. We look forward to welcoming you back.Sincerely, the management team.

Amazing place to stay within walking distance of all major attractions

    rating15 Aug 2026

I felt extremely fortunate to be able to stay here at the absolute height of the tourist season. The place is part of history: one of the oldest hostelries in the world: founded by Ferdinand and Isabella, it has been serving travelers for over 500 years! Built as a hospital to take care of ailing pilgrims on Camino de Santiago, it converted to a Parador hotel in 1954.The public spaces are really interesting. Parador guests are given a map for a self guided tour that explains the building and its historic role that I found extremely interesting. I also enjoyed exploring around the vast structure discovering courtyards, gardens, and the chapel in the middle. In addition, the Parador fronts on Obradoiro square where arriving pilgrims congregate. We had a room facing front: don't know how we managed it actually. But double window rendered it amazingly quiet despite noisy activity in the Square. The Parador is an easy walk from the Cathedral, its museum, the old town and other nearby areas.Included breakfast is amazing.Had one lunch at the restaurant which was also excellent. Recepción Santiago, Owner at Parador de Santiago De Compostela, responded to this review Dear Lafayette, Thank you for sharing your experience with us.We look forward to welcome you back soon.Sincelery, the management team.

Exceptional stay with access to major attractions and customer experience

    rating12 Aug 2026

Exceptional location with access to every major attraction. Front desk and check in experience is excellent with Maria at the front desk, a pleasure to engage with. In spite of her juggling multiple fronts, she makes it happen to the customer and she is the flagship at this place. Spacious rooms and great dining experience makes this place a must stay in this city. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here. Recepción Santiago, Owner at Parador de Santiago De Compostela, responded to this review Dear Sravichar, We value your comment. It will be our pleasure to welcome you again.Sincelery, the management team.

    Not a 5 star hotel

    rating05 Aug 2026

As i have been to Santiago 4 times i always said i would love to stay in the Parador so we decided to stay what a disappointment we were put on the 4th floor, we had to go through 2 courtyards to get to the lift to the room so on the second day we tried the lift just past the reception as we looked on the wall of the lift that stated our room number was included but when we stepped out of the lift on the 4th floor there was no indication for our room number, we became a littke confused as which way to go and i stumbled and fell hurting my hip and wrist We then walked and eventually found our way to the reception and i asked for the Manager who came and i explained as best i could but all she said was did i want some ice and some water, nothing else, no sorry etc, we were sent up a bag of ice, 2 bottles of water and some cake, that was it, besides this the rooms were just ok the building itself was beautiful and general staff were lovelyBut not 5 star. Recepción Santiago, Owner at Parador de Santiago De Compostela, responded to this review Dear Patricia, Thank you for your comment. Sincelery, the management team.
