  Camino Hotel

  My husband and I booked a two night stay at Hotel Scala. This hotel is along the main highway N550. This is a big hotel that caters to bus loads of Camino walkers and other tourists. A breakfast buffet was included in our booking. Due to the volume of hotel guests, the entrees at the buffet table were sometimes not replenished in a timely manner. Highly recommend selecting the first hour of the breakfast buffet.The hotel is quite a distance from the town center. We requested the receptionist to book us a taxi so we could explore the sights in Padron. In Padron, there was a taxi stand near the Tourist Office so it was not difficult finding our way back to Hotel Scala.Hotel Scala has a bar /restaurant and a fine dining restaurant open in the evenings. I think on Friday and Saturday nights, a disco is open.In spite of the large volume of clients, the hotel was able to keep the rooms and bathrooms clean. Housekeeping staff has to be commended on their efficiency.

  We stayed here on the Camino. Clean rooms, friendly staff, great buffet dinner. Huge uncrowded pool for cooling off after the long walk

  The hotel, located a bit outside Padrón, was our choice after failing to find any available accommodations in the city. However, we were disappointed to find that our room faced the street, resulting in excessive noise that made it impossible to sleep at night. The room itself was dated, lacking air conditioning, and the mattress was covered in a plastic sheet that made it unbearably hot during the night. The bathroom was equally outdated, with no shower, only a bathtub that had a broken showerhead that would fall onto the ground whenever I turned on the water. To top it off, the breakfast was disappointing, consisting of a collection of unappetizing food items. Worst hotel of our Camino so far. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.

  Impersonal, large ,busy facility with no attempt at hospitality

  Stayed for one night whilst doing Camiño. It is reasonably priced and its saving grace is an amazing pool. It is a long way out of town on a main road. However the attitude of the staff on the front desk was so disappointing- no attempt whatsoever at any personal service , very grumpy , absolutely refused to give us 2 keys for the room, didn’t give a stuff. Would definitely not choose to stay here again- there are much smaller, more personal places close to the town

  Warning: Lack of price transparency and overpriced appetizers in restaurant Brandal

  I am writing this to warn other travelers, especially fellow pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago, about our experience at Restaurant Brandal (Hotel Scala).While the main course for two people cost 60€, we were suggested an off-menu appetizer (a type of chorizo/sausage). To our absolute shock, when the bill arrived, the appetizer alone cost 80€—significantly more than the entire meal itself.We understand that we chose to accept the suggestion and could have asked for the price, but there is a clear lack of transparency and good faith here. To suggest an unlisted item that costs more than the main courses without a single word of warning about its premium price feels like a predatory practice targeting tourists.It is deeply disappointing to encounter this kind of behavior, especially during the Camino, where hospitality should be the priority. We felt taken advantage of.We'll never go to the hotel again
