Grand public areas, but our suite needed far more attention.

We stayed here for three nights as part of a road trip across northern Spain. It happened to be a busy weekend, so accommodation in the area was limited. We thought that booking a suite at a Silken Hotel would be a fairly safe choice.There were certainly positives. The staff were professional, helpful and responsive, which we discovered because we had to raise a number of issues with our room. The public areas are grand and well maintained, the parking is secure, and breakfast was perfectly reasonable.Unfortunately, the suite itself was a different story.The most concerning issue was one of the fire doors. The sign on the door stated that it was alarmed, but it was not, and the door could be opened from outside. The next fire door then appeared to have the opposite problem, as it could only be opened with a key from what seemed to be the wrong side. From a guest perspective, that was unsettling and not something I would expect to encounter.More generally, the room felt as though it had not been maintained to the standard you would expect from a suite in a hotel of this level. It was in need of redecoration, and the jacuzzi bath rather bizarrely had a notice stating “bathtub only”. The small balcony could also have been made much more inviting with a little maintenance, some weeding and perhaps a couple of chairs.Housekeeping was inconsistent. On different days we found dirty coffee cups left behind, rubbish not removed and the upstairs bathroom floor not cleaned.What made the stay frustrating was the contrast between the impressive public areas and the condition of the room itself. The staff did their best when we raised problems, but the suite should not have required so much intervention in the first place.Overall, the hotel has a lot going for it, but our room needed considerably more maintenance, attention to detail and consistent housekeeping than we expected from a Silken property.

Our reception was efficient and friendly even though we arrived early , the quality of the hotel was very good , clean , tidy everything you'd want .Good size room , clean fresh and cool.Would highly recommend

Chose this hotel based on location near the city centre. Was checked in by William. Very efficient and spoke perfect English! First impressions are always important and sets the standard . Nice room on 4th floor with tea/coffee making facilities and good WiFi too. Parking easy in secure underground car park beneath the hotel at 15 euros per day. Booked breakfast at extra 16 euros pp. Good and varied choices fried eggs/cheese ham and croissants etc. Friendly staff in the breakfast room too. Worth the money and would stay in same hotel should we return to Vitoria.

Nice hotel in a good location with several bars and restaurants nearby. Rooms comfortable. Staff friendly. Parking available in the basement but I'd recommend you pre book this if needed. It was ideal for our motorbikes. Breakfast was very good. We have stayed here before for one night and we would stay here again.
