  Delicious late lunch in the Silken Hotel restaurant, La Boral

  Our family of 5 adults, one vegan/pescatarian diner, ate a lovely late lunch at La Boral, the restaurant at Silken Villa De Laguardia. Everything was delicious. We had good service. We enjoyed the Ensalada de tomata, the mousse de foi, the Calamares, Croquetas Pescado, Pasta Idiazabal along with Hamburguesa Wagyu punto, and copa Orube Garnacha for about 35euros/person including wine.   Good option for Laguardia

  Stayed one night so we could re-visit Laguardia.The hotel is a bit old fashioned with an 'historic' look and feel. The room was huge and comfortable BUT with no power outlets in sensible places. We had to move the large old fashioned furniture to access them for device charging. Wifi was fine.It's a hotel with a lot of 'rules'. I imagine this comes from head office rather than the hotel itself. After our booking (via Expedia) we were bombarded with long emails/messages explaining the rules and the need to book for breakfast, the spa, etc. It turned out this wasn't necessary for breakfast and the reception staff (who were excellent) told us it didn't matter.Even though we had not booked a spa session there were robes and slippers in our room. There was also a clear message on the front desk that it was forbidden to wear the robes to the swimming pool or to take the room towels to the pool. There is a complex ticket system for swimming towels under the threat of a €10 charge.As you enter the hotel from the pool there is a notice saying you are not permitted to enter the hotel in a swimming costume. Yet there are no changing facilities at the pool. Someone hasn't thought this through. It's a short walk to the town gate especially if you use the public lift/elevator down the street. We had no trouble in parking but we did arrive mid-afternoon. The car park filled up towards the evening. Breakfast was fine.So, would I recommend it? Yes, its very cost effective for Laguardia and there is nothing intrinsically wrong the hotel (it's comfortable, everything works, the staff were great, etc.). The rules are somewhat off putting and its best just to ignore them.   Change the paper cups and put a kettle in the room. ??

  Short stay whilst touring the region. It’s a good location in walking distance of Laguardia, parking is a bonus but the car park gets full very quickly so we did once park across the road by the fuel station. Reception team friendly and helpful. Good small shop on site selling decent wine and olive oil. Staff in the bar, breakfast area and restaurant area were friendly and helpful. Food there was good quality. The paper cups in the room were a bit cheap and these weren’t changed so we took glasses from the restaurant. We’re adults, not children. Really surprised the hotel doesn’t provide a kettle and tea/coffee facilities in the room. We enjoyed our stay which was relaxing and functional.   Valerie’s passenger journey from Adsubia to Bilbao

  Used hotel to break up journey from our house in Pego to Bilbao ferry terminal,as we have done previously.the area is full or wineries both well known& smaller businesses,the scenery from logrono towards Bilbao is lovely,when on the N roads,well worth the extra hour journey time.Prices for the area are below normal tourist locations.All very enjoyable!   Very Good All Round

  We spent 10 days here in September (our second visit to this hotel). The location is ideal, being within about 15 minutes walk of the town centre with it's shops and restaurants. It is also perfectly-placed for our needs (as golfers) being approximately 35 minutes from all the local courses. The hotel itself is well-run, with an excellent breakfast (the usual full-buffet selection). The rooms are very comfortable, nicely fitted out, with comfortable beds, room fridge and good bathrooms (shower only). Many rooms have good views over the countryside too.Dinner can be a 'bar-meal' from the snack menu (excellent pizza) available until 8pm, or a slightly more-formal meal in the restaurant. The dinner menu is a little limited but is ok for a few nights. This is the one area we feel would benefit from improvement.The hotel has an excellent spa with a large pool, and a very good range of spa 'jets' jacuzzis and so on, plus steam and sauna cabins. Spa access can be purchased daily, or added as part of your room rate (note, the spa does not provide towels to take them from your room).There is adequate outdoor, free-parking (indoor/underground parking at a cost).We found the staff to be excellent, friendly and helpful too, all of which adds to the quality of the visit.The fact that we stayed for 10 days without issues is commendable, and rare in our recent experiences.
