    I had a really wonderful experience with this hotel and their team. During my first stay, things did not go as smoothly as I had hoped, but what truly stood out was how understanding, professional, and helpful everyone was afterward. Instead of dismissing the issue, their team handled it with genuine care and offered me the choice of either a refund for the stay or another stay completely free, which I thought was incredibly generous and thoughtful.I decided to return, and I am so glad I did. On my most recent stay, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was excellent. They not only provided the complimentary room, but they also upgraded our room and even included snacks, which was such a kind touch. It was clear that they truly care about their guests and about making things right.That level of customer service is rare, and it made a lasting impression on me. Everyone was warm, attentive, and committed to making our stay a great one. I’m very grateful for the way they handled everything, and because of that, I would absolutely recommend them to others.     Great hotel, amazing price

    One of the top ten hotels I've stayed in, ever. We got the king upgrade for just a few $ more. The super-friendly staff helped us check in quickly and gave us all the details. The fitness center is brand new and open 24/7. The hot tub and pool were legit. All room fixtures looked new. Room decorations were quirky in a good way. I took two or three showers daily just because it felt so nice. 6th Street and the river are a short walk south. Capitol visible to your north. Location has plenty of nearby overnight street parking. Oh, and the bartender did a great job. This hotel was one of our four-day getaway's highlights.     The Stephen F Austin Hotel is in a great location. It has amazing history and is a local institution. However, it is a bit tired and is due for a refresh. The rooms are clean but very dated and worn. Worn furniture, curtains, and switches that did not work were some of the obvious items. That said, the staff was very friendly and helpful. However, in a competitive market like Austin, there is no reason Sonesta has not updated this. The best thing the Stephen F has going for it is the balcony off of the second floor bar. One of the best locations for a cocktail overlooking Congress and to view the capital. I will be going back to Austin several times over the next few months. I have made reservations elsewhere.My recommendation is to have a cocktail and look at the history but stay elsewhere. My please to Sonesta to update this property and make it the gem it once was and should still be.     The namesake of this hotel within Texas is almost without equal: The Stephen F Austin. The location on 7th street is near perfect. This property could be among the finest in Texas and perhaps the world, yet they accept mediocrity. From the postage stamp size rooms and airline-sized bathrooms to the surly front desk staff and old furniture mediocrity abounds. It’s shocking given the potential of the property. Plus size? Great bar with pleasant and knowledgeable bartenders although a waitress would be helpful on a Saturday night. And if you have no intention of cleaning my room and replenishing the bottled water, please tell me when I check in.     we were here during the film festival--we didnt know! we were in Austin for a fun weekend. we tried to go to the bar AT THE HOTEL WE WERE STAYING AT at 6pm and were turned away because it was "too busy"-- it did NOT look that busy and why-- like most hotels-- wouldn't they have kept some room for people staying therre??? absolutely furious. destroyed our evening.
