  E xtremely serious security concerns – Port Alicante City & Beach

  The hotel’s security was extremely concerning during our stay. Side gates and fire doors were left unsecured, and there appeared to be no security cameras covering the hotel floors.At approximately 4:00am on Saturday 19th September, an unknown man entered our bedroom using a key/card and approached us in an extremely aggressive and threatening manner, shouting and swearing. This was particularly frightening for both myself and my elderly mother. No security or statements were take. Receptionist came to our room and reprogrammed our keys suggesting it could have been previous guests in our room. Again very disappointed. What was even more distressing was the way the incident was handled afterwards. Other hotel guests reported hearing screaming and a man shouting around the same time, yet we felt that the hotel did not take our account of what happened seriously. Instead of providing reassurance and support, we felt that excuses were made and that our concerns were dismissed.When we raised the matter with senior management, we found their response unsympathetic and dismissive. We were left feeling as though our experience was being questioned rather than properly investigated.For us, this was not a minor complaint. Having an unknown person enter your hotel bedroom at 4am is an extremely serious security incident, and guests should be able to feel safe in their rooms.I would strongly urge the hotel to review its security procedures, access controls and emergency response, and to take incidents of this nature much more seriously. Not brush it under the carpet and call us liars to cover themselves.   Stylish, Relaxing and So Much Fun

  We were a group of women away for a week ... had a very relaxed time! Great hotel, the food was really nice and the rooftop was excellent for cocktails. Staff were all lovelly and some of them quote hillarious. Excellent showers. We had great fun at the pool, I even learned how to dive! I’d definitely recommend it and would very happily go back.   The good and the bad

  We had high hopes having read the hotels website and previous reviews on tripadvisor however unfortunately it did not live upto our expectations. The positivesLocation is great if you don't want to be in central Alicante and prefer easy access (5 -10 minutes walk) to the lovely wide sandy uncrowded San Juan beach . Public transport was easy if you time it right with bus stops just outside the hotel ( 15 -20 mins ride into city centre )Cleanliness was goodPool areas nice and benefit of a nice baby pool.We stayed half board and the first two nights dinner was good and we were pleased we had chisen that option however by our 3rd night we found a distinct drop in the quality and in particular the cooking of it. Paellas fresh out looked to have been sat in an oven for hours drying out before service as did much of the other dishes as a result they did not look appetising and were dried out. Meat dishes on the buffet were dried out and fresh meat cooked by the grill chef was more often undercooked . My wife loves fish and seafood so she had more choices, but for me it was limited so I had alot of salad . Previous reviews mention how great the staff were we found the cooking / grill staff both breakfast and evening were quite surly and clearly put out if you asked for meat to be cooked a little more or omelette cooked more at breakfast. Rossi in the restaurant was stand out she is friendly and efficient and an asset to your team. The room layout was unusual as the shower has a glass door leading into the room and no traditional bathroom this is like a breakfast bar in the room. Ok if you don't want any privacy but may not be ideal for some.Finally the real negative we had was with regards our room. We were on the ninth floor and experienced repeated suction noises suddenly throughout our room during the week. This first happened at 06.30am, waking us abruptly on our first morning and was pretty frightening . See videos. We believe it may be an issue with the drainage or pipes . We reported it so hopefully they will get on top of it. In addition the TV came on around 05.30hrs no sound but with the hotel promo videos so the lights from that woke us a few times. Maintainence came out sort it but despite that it happened again the following night. Having been woken up early most morning didn't make it the most relaxing break.
