A wasted opportunity in Orihuela.

Whilst the location, reception staff and architectural features of the hotel are very good, there are major problems with communication and services for residents. On arrival at 3.45pm, we checked in smoothly, and went to our room. A 4pm someone started tuning a piano , and at 5pm a disco started blasting out below our third floor room. At no time were we warned if this disruption, coupled with the fact that the hotel restaurant was out of commission due to a private function. Again no prior warning was given or information shared on arrival. We had to find somewhere to eat outside the hotel that evening. On return at around 21.45, we were able to enter the bar/restaurant. Whilst waiting to be served by an absent barman, another person entered the restaurant and was attended to before us. We then bore the brunt of of this conversation when we ordered our drinks. Four residents arrived for dinner at 22.00, much to the displeasure of the oft absent, phone using barman. The next day the restaurant was again out of use to residents. for another private function, again with no information or communication. That evening we went for predinner drinks. Whilst waiting to be served by the oft absent barman, another person arrived, and when the barman returned, they were immediately served, and we came a poor second. Eventually a waitress arrived, but thought more about spending time in the kitchen than behind the bar. My husband was totally ignored trying to order another drink, and I finally went to reception and asked for service in the bar. Priority was given to local nonresidents, and international guests are obviously not the norm. No language other than Spanish is spoken by staff. Even though we are residents in Spain, and fluent Spanish speakers , we witnessed sadly lacking opportunities to improve the guest experience for visitors. We certainly would not return to this hotel, and if this is the Sercotel standard, we most definitely would not book this chain of hotels again.

This review is in respect of the restaurant… an exceptional oasis of tranquility with a lunch menu that was imaginative, fresh ingredients beautifully prepared and presented. Good service and have no hesitation in recommending and were I to return to Orihuela, would not hesitate to return.

The hotel was very clean and tidy, it’s positioned very centrally in Orihuela, close to many restaurants and cafes.The staff were very friendly, we really enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately it was only for 1 night because we needed to do banking business in the local area.

Stayed here 15/11/22 as we were going to a show at a rock club.This is a lovely hotel with helpful staff.We also had a meal at the hotel which was beautiful.The town of Orihuela is stunning. I can’t wait to return and I’ll definitely book this hotel again,Muchas gracias

It would have stairs, but I've downgraded it because we couldn't get the aircon to work, we only stayed one night, and didn't discover the problem until late in the evening.Apart from that everything was good from our reception until breakfast in the morning, perfect location to see the wonderful churches and other historic buildings,Parking like any other town is an issue we parked on a nearby underground park, but whilst wandering about the town we did find on street free parking
