    Outdated hotel with great location

    rating03 Jul 2026

Great location, but the hotel feels outdated. The 90 cm bed is too narrow for a comfortable night's sleep. The air conditioning is noisy, and opening the window isn't a good option because of the traffic noise. The wall-to-wall carpet also feels unhygienic by today's standards.Breakfast was average, the bar was closed, and the parking behind the hotel was convenient.

    Bad

    rating31 May 2026

Stay 20 till May 25 th 2026 .Dirty floor bathroom hairs and dust on the floor. Dirty shower mold and dirt rust. I stayed five days. Single room four days and complained twice with different reception emplayees once with a cleaner and the fourth time manager front office I asked and got a different room for the last night. The last room was bigger looked more exspensive but not much cleaner. Again dust and airco blowing mold and dust around. Higher surfaces not cleaned. The airco in the single room was enough to cool the small room. But the airco in the bigger room took a long time to lower the room temperature a bit. And yes a creaking bed in bigger room. I was in the hotel during the first heat wave of summer 2026. The dinner was bad boring meat twice inadible. No plate service but buffet overcooked meat and vegetables. The hotel looks worn dated and is closing end of 2026 I heard. Four stars ? The night porter was no help when I complained about noise at night . He told me he did not understand English. No bar. Entrance to garage and corner building just next to main entrance look bad creepy. Trier town only for people realy interested in Roman past nothing much else to do.

    Amazing view & great breakfast!

    rating13 Apr 2026

I had a wonderful stay at the Mercure Hotel Trier Porta Nigra. The highlight was definitely the exceptional view of the Porta Nigra (“Black Gate”) — such a unique and memorable experience right from the room. The location is perfect for exploring Trier, with major sights just steps away. The hotel itself was comfortable and well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a great variety of options and everything fresh and well presented — a perfect way to start the day.Overall, a fantastic stay and I would definitely recommend it, especially if you can get a room with the view!

    Good stay

    rating16 Mar 2026

In total it's a nice hotel, very clean, everything is intact and comfortable, yet especially the rooms could use some upgrades, they look a little outdated. The location is great, right in the city center and the staff is very friendly.

    big room but old

    rating02 Feb 2026

Big room, everything you need is there, beautiful view on the porta negra, but worn, old fashioned. the restaurant was also not open, which was a disadvantage
