  The rooms are small but very sufficient for our needs. The bed was very comfortable. What I don't like is the lack of closure on the bathtub/showers as the little glass door always leaked and would cause water puddles on floor and although we would obviously dry the floor, then we couldn't reuse our towels and the floor was slippery for a time as there is no ventilation in the bathroom. Our air conditioner leaked the entire time so we had to keep the trash can at the door and also use towels to dry the floor. Front desk was informed and after 3 days it seemed they fixed it but then on our last night the leaking started again. Can't say this was a big deal other than the dripping noise and the use of trash can and extra towels but hated to see the wood floors being damaged. The electrical could use a little update but it again was sufficient. The room was always cleaned well and the staff was very nice and friendly. I can't speak on their morning buffet as we always went to the cafe on the corner but it did appear nice. This location is fabulous!! Easy walk to the park, shopping, all the old town area including cathedral. It's a great choice!

  Very old, smelling, very small elevator. Location is very close to old part of town. Breakfast is very small, not fresh, taste badly, seating is very very short, you need for someone to finish and standup since it can seat no more than 20 people There are much better offers around

  We found the reception at this hotel excellent. The young girl who booked us in was very helpful. The hotel is very close to the old town and a few metres to the "restaurant row" where many restaurants and bars are located. The room and bathroom was clean but very hot.

  An Improvement Since My Last Visit

  It's been 4 years since I last stayed Hotel El Magistral. My travel group was about 50 members all staying at El Magistral for a minimum of 6 nights during the San Mateo Festival. I stayed 8 nights since I planned on being based in Oviedo while visiting nearby towns.Exe Hotel El Magistral is centrally located for all the festival activities and for walking around Oviedo. Having stayed in a room fronting the street on my last visit, I asked for a room in the back of the hotel. The room was overlooking a rooftop but I wasn't staying at the El Magistral for a room with a view. The room was clean, air conditioning worked great, WiFi was always available in the room but the bed was too soft and uncomfortable. It appears as though there hasn't been any room remodeling in the last 4 years.I'd heard the complaints about the breakfast at El Magistral, so I suggest breakfast at 2 nearby cafes. One cafe is next door & the other at the corner, both quick and inexpensive for a light breakfast. The major improvement during my most recent stay was the hotel staff. Everyone that I encountered from front desk staff to housekeeping was pleasant, courteous and helpful.

  We booked a room adapted to the disabled. We got a seperate sitting room, a bedroom with wide beds, and a bathroom with walk-in shower. Very nice and clean. Receptionists friendly and helpful. Breakfast good and wide choice of dishes.
