Charming Boutique Hotel in a Great Location
29 Aug 2026
Hernan Cortes is a beautiful hotel in a great location in Gijon with a boutique feel. The nearby public parking was easy to use and not too expensive (relative to hotel parking in other locations). The rooms were clean and spacious and we had a nice view of the plaza below. HOTEL HERNAN CORTES Dirección, Dueño at Hotel Hernan Cortes, responded to this review Dear Jennie,Thank you very much for sharing your experience and for your kind recommendation. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed the hotel’s boutique feel, its central location and the spaciousness and cleanliness of your room.It is also wonderful to hear that you appreciated the view over the plaza and found the nearby public parking convenient during your stay.We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Gijón in the future.Kind regards,

Needs some updates.
21 May 2026
I’m sure this once earned 4stars, but those days are over. The carpets are worn out and tired looking being completely threadbare at the room doorways. There isn’t a USB port to be found, nor an outlet in the bathroom for a hairdryer or shaver. No face cloths provided. No a/c in the bathroom and the only window in it directly faces the sun with no blackout curtain so it is roasting hot. We have to the AC on high in the rest of the room in order to cool off the bathroom enough to use it. The room was large with plenty of room for a long stay. Staff is friendly. The building is lovely and deserving of a bit of modernization without sacrificing charm. HOTEL HERNAN CORTES Dirección, Dueño at Hotel Hernan Cortes, responded to this review Dear IGolf4food,Thank you for sharing your experience with us.We are pleased to hear that you appreciated the spaciousness of the room, the friendliness of our staff, and the character of the building. We strive to preserve that classic style and character, as it is one of the aspects that defines us and that our guests value most. We’re sorry that some aspects related to the amenities and the condition of certain facilities may not have met your expectations. We hope to welcome you back on a future visit to Gijón.Best regards.

Great location with close by public parking

Great location and breakfast, close to public parking, at walking distance to see all old town, comfortable beds and big bathrooms, the only bad thing is the internet inside the room, very poor signal, you need to go outside of your room to get good signal

Grand old hotel in a central location. Convenient to all the sites we were interested in. The staff were very helpful. Also, the hotel was able to store our luggage for two weeks, during our bike trip. This was so very helpful! We are pleased to help our guests whenever we can.We hope you have enjoyed your stay with us and would be pleased to welcome you again soon.Best regards.

EXCELLENT HOTEL IN GIJÓN
13 Jan 2024
This Hotel is centrally located in Gijón. The room was very confortable and clean. The Port and beaches, restaurants, shops, etc. are at walking distance. The Front Desk employees (Quique, Jorge and Paula) and the two ladies in charge of the Breakfast Room are very efficient with effective customer service skills!!! Highly recommended!!!
